Star Trek Enterprise now available on iTunes

I have no qualms about the fact that I am a grade A geek. All the signs are there: I work in IT, I write about Apple, and I love Star Trek. The latest member of the Star Trek franchise, Star Trek Enterprise, is now available in the iTunes Store (you might know ST Enterprise as, 'That one with that guy from Quantum Leap'). At the moment only the first season is available, but I am sure the rest of the show's seasons will show up (I'm looking forward to the last season which is when the show actually became pretty OK).
Episodes are priced at the standard $1.99 and you can get the entire season for $48.99, which isn't a bad price considering the DVD box set of the first season is going for $112 on Amazon (though, to be fair the DVD set includes some special features).
Here's hoping Deep Space 9 shows up on iTunes soon.

You'd think paramount would give up on Enterprise all together. Stash it away like Boo Radley - it being the only Trek to be canceled (but the third to deserve it). I guess they're trying to milk as much money from that mistake as possible.

Yeah, I wish they'd release DS9 too... although, my wallet definitely doesn't wish for it.

After having actually beginning to watch Enterprise via netflix, I have to say I think it's a lot better than I thought it would be. I think UPN was a major reason that it didn't make it all the way through it's run.
DS9 is OK, but I'd put it at the bottom of the ST list of awesomeness. It's almost like a soap opera instead of a sci fi series.
Put TNG in the iTS, Make it So!

I never did get into ST:E. Also, why is "Broken Arrow Parts 1 & 2" listed 2nd to last in the season list? Wasn't it the series premiere? Also part 2 is listed before part 1... weird.

You mean you didn't think the bit with the Vulcan bird in the changing rooms was the best?

I'm also gonna throw in my desire for TNG--unlike DS9, I can cherrypick each and every episode of TNG I want, thus saving me eleventy bajillion dollars.

No!! DS9 Forever!! After TNG, DS9 started really rocking. Voyager and Enterprise needs to be permanently locked up. Or have all master sources burned, or phasered, or whatevs. DS9 is the only worthwhile Star Trek TV series. Looking back, while I enjoyed TNG, now watching it, I just can't... too much fluffing about, oh, we're so great and enlightened and exploring the universe and everybody on earth and colonies are all happy and fulfilled and... what a crock. DS9. Dare I say Galactica new version takes it up a notch. A bit too much sometimes though, DS9 had a right balance of grittiness, class, enjoyable (if a little slow 1st and 2nd season) and intriguing episodes and characters.

Hi Scott,
What the difference in image quality/resolution worth? What the difference with iTunes and a DVD? I agree however that Paramount is asking too muchf for their DVD. I was lucky enough to buy them with an extra documentary.
Also, the series are only available on iTunes in the United States, not Canada or elsewhere in the world for that matter...

(new) Battlestar Galactica is the best Sci-Fi show on iTMS and maybe the best sci-fi ever.

This was originally released in Hi-Def on TV. I'm waiting for the 720p that the iTunes store is promising to go along with the release of AppleTV. I have downloaded a few of the Enterprise Hi Def shows from Xbox Live, they look pretty good. I never watched this when it originally aired, but now I find it not to be too bad.

Actually, once you get into it, the series does get very interesting; slow start, but as you progress, it does try to have some degree of relevance to tech that we have already (gene-sequencer, anyone?), and at least does a decent portrayal of a society trying to come to terms with the rapid progression of tech and intergalactic politics. I know I'll be flamed for saying the following, but at least it's less campy than the the original series w/shatner; much closer to TNG than the original.

Enterprise was ok, started off slow, but it did pick up. TOS is by far the best written of them all, i would buy them on iTS if i didn't already own them all (bought them one by one on vhs a long time ago). on a ST awesomeness scale , i would have to say it goes TOS - TNG - ST:E - VOY - DS9 -Animated

"now available in the iTunes Store"
By available I'll go ahead and assume you mean only in the US again, like all the rest. Meh.

I actually liked Enterprise for the most part. But then again, I'm genetically programmed to like anything Trek (fanfic and fanfilms aside). I just had to remember to hit MUTE for the theme song (too painful). The show seemed to use the Voyager playbook in a lot of respects, but the last season was a lot of fun and did much to heal previous errors (cute dogs, crack addict vulcans and massage therapy sessions come to mind). Unlike a lot of the fanbase, the continuity porn transgressions didn't bother me too much (Borg, Ferengi etc). I generally don't buy iTunes shows because they're usually too expensive compared to the DVD sets (lower quality, more restrictive usage, and sometimes more expensive than the dvd sets). At least in this case, Enterprise is currently less than half the cost ($49) of the Enterprise set on Amazon. $111 for a low rated show almost universally panned? I know paramount lowered some of the Trek sets, but they should take a hint from Fox. You can slim sets of X-Files for $25 and Buffy and Angel for $20 on Amazon...way less than half of the original sets (X-Files was around $100). A dollar a show I might be tempted, but if I'm paying $35-$50, I'll get the DVD (if available) for around that price.
