Billy Joel catalog sale on iTunes

Attention Billy Joel fans: iTunes has a few things that will interest you. Billy Joel's studio albums are now on sale for $7.99 each (that's 2 buck off for the mathematically challenged out there). For you Billy Joel completists there is also an iTunes exclusive single called 'All My Life' which will cost you the normal $0.99.

No really, does TUAW have to cover everything that happens in the iTunes store? Looking on the iTunes store I see they just added Star Wars audio books. Is that a post? Please don't inundate us with EVERY single thing that Apple does. We look to you guys to be our filters. Telling us about a sale on songs from a songwriter who hasn't had a hit in ten years is not news.

Keep up the posts like this, TUAW--I don't have time to check the iTunes store every single moment for sales.
And, Jody--"hasn't had a hit in ten years"? Does this mean he's less important than Fall Out Boy now?

I already own (and ripped) every BJ album, but this is good to see.

And Jody, your last hit was when?

Hey, where's my TUAW posting? I run a small surf/instro rock n' roll label called Double Crown Records and hey, you can download many of our albums on iTunes! Just go to our website at http://www.dblcrown.com and on our front page you'll see a list of albums we have available. Choose from artists like The Penetrators, Bonney & Buzz, Dr. Frankenstein, The Kilaueas, The Hellbenders and The Madeira. Sorry for the ad, but hey, I'm in agreement with the other posters that blogging about every new entry to the iTunes store is just plain obnoxious.

The interesting part, to me, is that Apple is offering a discount on the album hence I posted it.

The Double Crown Records post should win post of the year. First it's a shameless free self promotion, followed by a dig against the people who allowed the self promotion to happen. Wow. I bow to down to you, Lord of the Asses!

I really don't have a problem. Given that it's on that rollover system, I might have never noticed it. I don't remember seeing sale prices for full albums for any widely recognized artist on iTunes, this might be a first.

Under normal circumstances I wouldn't have posted a spam comment like that for my record label. It just seems like over the past 4-6 months or so the number of articles at TUAW has gone way, way up, probably double to triple what it used to be. I'm all for it if the entries are actually newsworthy. The Free Music Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday posts are maddening (you can just go to the iTunes store front page and see all of the free items right in the middle - why do we need posts for this? However, the plug for Billy Joel's back catalog just pushed me over the edge I guess. I appreciate the fact that Scott said the main reason for the post was that the albums were being discounted. However, this didn't seem to be the focus of the piece - it was more centered on Billy Joel.

Is this the first time the iTunes store has had a full-length album for sale at less than $9.99? If so, it is indeed interesting; I wonder whether it points towards more variable pricing in the future.

#12, There are always albums less than $9.99, although I think this is the first time iTunes has done an across the board sale on one artist's albums.
