MediaFork to 'unfork' back into HandBrake
As Erica noted back on the 12th, a contributed branch of the HandBrake DVD ripping tool was released as MediaFork, including plenty of updated library goodness and new features for conversion to iPod video formats. The development team on MediaFork had tried to contact HandBrake developer "titer" prior to splitting off a version, but hadn't been able to reach him.Well, titer has returned, made contact with the new team, and given his official stamp of approval to the MediaFork efforts -- meaning that the next beta of MediaFork will return to the HandBrake name and website. It's wonderful to see everyone working together for justice, and for... the safety of puppies... and Christmas, right? Let's rip those DVDs!
thanks Mike!

I can't remember where I saw it, but the basic story behind the pineapple is "It's pointless."
Tom:
That's... Well, what is that?! It's not a handbrake. It looks like a Play-Doh press that spits out plastic dics. Better than the pineapple though!
Sam:
Oh you catty thing. You stir the pot, you!
I'm happy to hear things are moving along again. Now if the folks behind MacTheRipper would just get that final version of 3.0 out I'd be a happy, happy camper.

February 23 2007 at 1:17 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI would just like to know the story behind the pineapple.
February 23 2007 at 1:14 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyOh, I know about the replacement icon, and I use it; I'd just like to see them include it (or even something else if it looks good) in the app itself. Having to replace it every time is a pain :)

February 23 2007 at 11:42 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyArg, I had just removed the Handbrake RSS feed from NewsFire and replaced it with the MediaFork feed.
I don't care who updates the app or where the dev blog resides as long as they pick a place and stick with it.
And can we please get a decent icon for MediaFork/Handbrake? The pineapple doesn't make any sense and MediaFork's was even worse...
This is good news. I am a big fan of this program. And I've the buffy quote...
