Found Footage: Creepy iPod "Ad"
Well, this will certainly give you pause. It's a parody non-Apple iPod "ad" cum social commentary (of a sort) from Hot Sauce Academy, "a three-person sketch and improv group from New York's Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre." It pretty much speaks for itself, and might make you hide your iPod a bit better when you go out.
Warning: this video is not for the faint of heart and contains a stylized representation of graphic violence.

Wow... a little more warning would have been nice, such as graphic violence. I don't consider two people being executed for an iPod just "for the faint of heart".

Crass. And completely unimaginative. I want my 44 seconds back.

I don't think this should be "filed under Humor"...

Apparently, iPod devotees don't have a sense of humor and are very willing to jump on the Jack Thompson/Joe Lieberman "violence is never humorous" bandwagon. I don't see what was unimaginative about it ... it was a parody. Parody is only as imaginative as the original. By that logic, I would say it's as unoriginal as the continuing stream of silhouetted iPod posters plastered all over NYC.

It's a parody, and unrealistic in nature; although it may seem insensitive for a taboo topic to some people, I don't see what the fuss is about. Same sour arguement - it's artistic expression, the intention is to bring you out of your sheltered norm. Apparently it worked on those who lost the humor.

What rubbish! Just use a bit of common sense- no one would shoot someone for their ipod like that. The ipod is likely to get covered in blood, and may smash as the person falls to the ground, making it kinda useless to the gunman. They'd get them to hand over the ipod first, and if they really wanted to kill them, shoot them then, in which case they're probably crazed psychopaths, and would shoot anyone for a chocolate biscuit, let alone an ipod.

I played it before seeing the "warning". It would have been nice to have seen the warning in the title somehow.
Also, I normally side on the artists expression side of things, but this piece seemed to border on the poor taste side. Was the gun shot blood splatter and the guy cowering before getting his brains blown out really necessary.
Maybe I'm just being a wet sandy vagina but TUAW just went down a notch in class for me.

What kind of a society do we live in where people's sensibilities are so delicate they can't watch something like that and not feel violated? It was a parody, if you don't like it, don't watch it again, why does everyone need to be warned about everything??

I can't help but wonder if Apple patrol TUAW and take down anything that infringe their copyright.
