What are you guys smoking??? I read TUAW every day, but this kind of thing really disappoints me. This Virtue update was released on January 10 -- on the order of, what, 6 or 7 weeks ago now? Little slow on the uptake are we? I was all excited when I saw the headline because I've been using 0.54 Beta 2 and it's buggy as hell, and was all excited about a new version. Grrrr.

Yeah I went because I had stopped using VD because it was so buggy. I installed like 3 times before realized i already had it and there where no changes. Bummer guys.

Personally, I've found You Control: desktops to be considerably more stable on my machines, though of course you have to pay for it.

I just keep hoping Apple will hurry up and ship Leopard so all of these third-party products will be obsolete.

I don't know what bugs you guys are running into, but VD 0.54b2 has been working great for me since Jan 10.

In an ironic twist, I spent the last few days looking for a good desktop manager. I had been using Desktop Manager on my G5, but a certain critical feature didn't work on my new Mac Pro: The ability to have windows appear on every desktop. I tried Virtue Desktops, but the windows I had appearing on all desktops would randomly disappear when switching desktops. YouControl: Desktop is much better, even if it is a commercial application.

Yeah I just tried You Control: Desktops after getting so frustrated with Virtue. It's very nice, seems stable, and I love that you can drag windows between desktops (a lot like Spaces). However, I'm hesitant to pay $30 for something I'll be getting in a month or two in Leopard.
