SendStation PocketDock AV

SendStation, purveyor of miniature iPod docks-connector adapters, sends word of their newest product: the SendStation PocketDock AV. The AV offers regular USB charging and syncing functions but also sports video and audio connections, as the name would suggest, and includes a breakout cable that offers RCA L/R audio and composite video jacks, as well as S-video and USB.
They note that the "PocketDock AV is compatible with any [4th or 5th generation] iPod with Dock connector" and will "be available shortly" for $36.95. This looks like a perfect iPod companion to throw in the gear bag for watching video on the road (e.g. on the hotel TV).

I don't see how it is any better than the normal iPod AV Cable ($19.00 at Apple.com) and the standard USB cable that comes with the iPod. The only possible advantage I can think of is S-Video.

I agree Samuel. Why pay $34.95 when you can do the same thing for $19.00 (or even less if you just use a standard A/V cable and swap two of the RCA connectors) And how is it a dock? It's just a connector cable. I don't think that warrants having "PocketDock" in the name. Although I guess I understand if it's just their way of branding the product.

The SendStation PocketDock products were disappointing to me because they don't securely attach to the dock connector. They work on a spring loaded tabs that are rounded instead of the barb style latches that Apple uses for their cables. Thus, to attach and remove the PocketDock you jam it in and yank it out to remove. This results in not only a less secure attachment to the iPod but also unnecessarily wears the dock connector over time.
Although I want so badly to love SendStation PocketDock products, they suffer from what I consider to be a serious design flaw. All they had to do was add two little buttons to the sides of the device and they would have a stellar compact product.
