Wireless iPod music sharing
Have you ever held an iPod, looked at it, and thought to yourself, "Dang. It's just not Zune enough"? Are you looking for ways to Zune up your iPod? If the lack of wireless music transfer has held you back from truly enjoying your iPod to its fullest, is it possible that you can now rejoice?
Our sister blog Engadget writes about a new iPod attachment that supposedly gives iPods Zune-like music-transfer abilities. Although the NBC News report shown here suggests the device will be available by Christmas in major retailers like Best Buy, Engadget recommends you don't hold your breath. They remain skeptical as to whether the device will function as advertised--even within the promised 15-foot radius.

Best Buy sells something that will let you do this right now (not maybe in 6 months)...It's not wireless...but it works between iPods or between any 2 USB devices (camera, camcorder, thumbdrive, standalone drive, etc). It's called "Hitch"...I know they sell it, because I bought one at BB 2 weeks ago and I love it!

i could do this with an iTrip (or other FM transmitter).
also, they make it sound like this device is iPod-exclusive, when it could actually work with any device with a line-out.
definitely lame.
Anybody ever follow the "via othersite.com" links to the source? I did out of curiosity. This one went: TUAW -> Engadget -> Wired -> Mobile Magazine -> Gizmodo -> Source ->broken Ebay link
Just thought I'd share.
Part of the functionality has been available for years. it's called an FM transmitter.
This thing does not allow transfering songs (data). Some dude wouldn't be able to cobble that together at his daughter's whim in his basement.
A true music file transfering adapter would require software to function. Either on the iPod or in its own firmware to be able to access read/write functions f the iPod's disk.
This is an FM transmitter and receiver. One iPod broadcasts the audio and anyone else with one of these little bullets can listen, using their iPod as a portable battery pack.
LAME.
