Apple Releases iTunes 7.1.1
Less than two weeks after releasing iTunes 7.1 and people encountering library corruption and other issues, Apple has released iTunes 7.1.1 for both Windows and Mac. This new update addresses stability and compatibility issues and hopefully will stop those unfortunate library corruption problems.
Thanks, Jonathan.

I got iTunes 7.1 on my iPod Video and 2 days later it was corrupted. I assume the two are connected, but I don't know. Now my computer won't acknowledge my iPod. Is there any way to fix it, or do I just have to get a new iPod?
June 07 2007 at 9:39 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyapple really needs to get on itunes 7 its an absolute failure every time a new update has came out and i have even thought of downloading it. i come to places like these to see it isnt working and the bugs havent even been touched. on top of the claimed cpu usage of 7 which is unbearable.. why so much cpu just to run a movie or play a music file is beyond me. what all this just becuase you want to add some movies and try and screw my music library which ive been piling up for years? your god damned ipods arent any better either if it wasnt for their disc space i wouldnt want one period. you have your retarded mac commercials claiming they are more fun, i dont see how.. i see it like this mac = a prison cell.. all you need to get by is offered by the prison itself its enough to live but nothing special. windows xp(not including vista cuase it sucks)= the window from within the cell your looking out, so many possibilities are waiting for you outside the walls of your confined cell so many more things you can actually do. why settle for a mac when a pc with windows can do everything it can and much much more. so tired of people acting like mac is on some high horse when they are that much worse then pcs, i know microsoft isnt perfect but they are doing more for pcs then mac has ever done in its entire existence.

March 25 2007 at 4:06 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyjohn @ #18 - probably because no one has actually got the zune for them to make comment. And apart from the fact that im not sure the zune was made to be fully mac compatible to start with? So your complaint would be like saying "urgh no oneseems to complain that bwm cant fly but they all have a dig when boeing is grounded".
On that point though Zune has recently become mac osx compatible.
Now something as high end as Ipod + Itunes (which incedently a 5.5G 80GB ipod costs $28 to produce parts + labour, another $26 for advertising etc, and is sold for around $300) you EXPECT its to function completely without many issues. Id be pretty damn p1ssed if my Playstation 3 would keep crashing and needed constant updates etc.
Funny how noone complains about Zune not working with OSX isnt it? But plenty come out of the woodwork when it envolves iTunes. Just a minor matter.

How better to urge people to switch from Vista. Nobody would consider iPods not working an iTunes problem.
That's the fun of having a monopoly on the portable media player market.
Daveoc64, you're off-base in a few ways.
iTunes is actually pretty good software, and QuickTime's APIs are superb software engineering. But both have an enormous user base and have to cater for a wide variety of setups to do hardware level things (sound, video, and hardware device support).
Inevitable issues are bound to crop up, but they are actually quite low in the scheme of things.
Vista support was present and mostly stable in the late developer, beta 1 and beta 2 builds. RTM build 6000 broke it. Who's fault is that really?
Besides, the Vista issues are relatively minor and most users don't experience problems with iTunes per se (there is something with resolution independence going on, but no one uses that anyway). Apple is simply playing it safe by not guaranteeing it, which is wise giving that if a problem does occur it can corrupt an iPod's disk catalog, thus creating a warranty claim situation.
(Again, a hardware device support issues extremely common in the Vista transition. Not just Apple, but everyone from nVidia through scanner makers are experiencing it.)
i too have the blurred scrollbar problem on my macbook (only gma-graphics affected). There is a topic on both apple discussions and macrumors, go join!
March 16 2007 at 8:25 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWake up guys. R.e. the Vista support;: It's obviously part of Apple's 'Switch' strategy to not rush this. Why make it any easier to upgrade to the only (and i'm being *very* generous here) OS that might come close to the functionality and ease of use of OS X.
March 16 2007 at 7:03 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyFritz Laurel, I don't feel that Apple's amazing iTunes and Quicktime are setting a good example of what the Mac is capable of to Windows users.
Both are quite poorly made pieces of software.
The 7.1.1 update is just further evidence of this.
Apple has has AGES to get Windows Vista compatibility in, it's been finished for almost 6 months and in beta (which Apple could have used to fix iTunes) before then.
