Wooden iPod cases
Website CoolAsFunk tracked down these fabulous wooden iPod cases from Japanese wooden-toy manufacturer Asuka Koubou[1] via distributer Rakuten. Your 5G or nano iPod slips into the case, leaving access to the docking port, scroll wheel and screen. It's not entirely clear what keeps the iPod from slipping right back out again, but given how marvelous these things look, who is going to quibble about mere functionality, darling? If my ability to read Japanese pages works--and, frankly, it rarely has--it looks like these cases sell for about 5775 Yen each, or about $50 in US currency.[1] Thanks Calexifan

Rakuten is not the manufacturer, it is the website (akin to the Yahoo marketplace). Compared to the other cases linked to above, though, this seems much better suited for the iPod's functions.

Rakuten is not the manufacturer of these cases. Rakuten is an online retailer that simply sells the cases.
The cases were made by Asuka Koubou, a wooden-toy manufacturer.

Peter's cases are handmade from reclaimed wood and, if I remember rightly, bicycle spokes - I've had one for the iPod Mini for a couple of years now, and they age really nicely. The only downside is that every time you take it out in public, someone taps you on the shoulder to find out where to get one!
