Apple NAB event confirmed
Remember that special event Apple was rumored to be having on April 15th at NAB (National Associate of Broadcasters)? Well, AppleInsider got their digital hands on one of the media invites, so it looks like it is.Since NAB is all about the video it is wise to suspect that Apple will be unveiling a new version of Final Cut Studio. Some think that 8 core Mac Pros might make their debut, and I wouldn't be shocked to see new MacBook Pros. This is all, of course, speculation.
We here at TUAW will keep our ears to the ground, and report back any findings to you, our loyal readers.

As if "Lights Camera" weren't enough... add the red, green and blue (phosphors) and voila...
I'm "all in" for Final Cut Pro upgrade.

Not a chance for new MacBook Pros. Intels Santa Rosa chipset isn't scheduled to ship until May, so until then there's nothing to update the MacBooks with.

That leads me to believe all KINDS of speculation.

I'm sorry MBPs? This timing would make no sense to launch new MBPs? This post should of read more like this " Here is a shot of the Apple Press Invite for the NAB event coming up on April 15th, maybe an update to Final Cut Pro? We'll keep you updated"

Read the whole post before making yourself look like a dildo.
"Some think that 8 core Mac Pros might make their debut, and I wouldn't be shocked to see new MacBook Pros."
MacBook Pros are used for video editing, duh...

The 17" MacBook Pro was introduced at last year's NAB. The problem with an update at this year's event is that the chipset isn't available yet. From what I can tell, Apple usually only updates their products after Intel can give them a decent supply of updated chips.
Thankfully no one here has been hoping that a consumer product be updated or announced at the show, it's a pro show.

Maybe it's the secret replacement-for-shake-and-motion app that has been rumored for over a year...

@ Chris:
It still makes no sense to ship new MB Pros. Jacob has a great point in that the new processors won't even be out for a couple months more. I say MBPs come out for WWDC.
Final Cut Pro? Of course! Mac Pros? Most definitely.
Now... what about the VIDEO iPod? "Since NAB is all about the video"... I've got my money on that: the iPod is seriously overdue for it's update. Why overdue? Well, you know that Apple launches a new version of their hardware say, oh, every 18 months and the iPod's recent generations (3rd-5th) have seen 18-month shelf lives...
Did I convince anybody of my point?

I heard it was just a new Garage Band Jam Pack.

No offense, but Apple has been holding this meeting every year at NAB, at the very same place and at the very same time for at least the last 3 years (the ones I have attended).

I want an iLife update dammit! When the hell are they updating that? Maybe I should check John Mayer's tour schedule and figure out when he'll be in the bay area.

@ Bambino: NAB is all about broadcast, *pro* video. There will be no new iPod.
@ Cyril: What does that have to do with anything?
