Apple TV now shipping
As of today, Apple is now shipping AppleTV. Check your email for shipment confirmation. Apple is charging credit cards and providing (in my case FedEx) tracking numbers. In addition, units should be available for sale at local Apple Stores for purchase in short order. If you spent the extra money for priority delivery, you should be seeing your unit very soon.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

You kidding me - "Apples makes a TV?" Where have you been for the last year? a Mars mission? :-)
I'm wishing beyond wishes that my local Apple store has one of these puppies in stock. I'll be calling when it hits 10am here in PDT time.
I'm locked into iTunes, accepted it, and will buy this without concerns for other video formats...

Yea, this box needs the ability to play divx, xvid and x264 (open sourced h264), Currently nothing beats a hacked xbox running xbox media center (xbmc). but the lack of cpu in the older xbox will make 720p and higher playback impossible.

Remember Rogue Amoeba is probably coming up with a application like "airfoil" to stream anything over to Apple TV just like the express now.

I checked the San Francisco Apple Store after lunch today, and they don't have Apple TVs in stock yet. In fact, the guys who work there didn't even know that they started shipping today, or when they'd get them in the store.

No. 8: How do you get the idea stuff encoded with x264 wouldn't play? As far as I know it works if you choose the right settings (look at the Apple TV Technical Specification page for those)
