Best Buy gets 2 week Apple TV exclusive
You should be able to buy an Apple TV at your local Apple Store very soon (I imagine if they don't have them today they'll be getting them over the weekend). What if you are one of the many folks who do not live near an Apple Store? According to CNet Best Buy has worked out a deal to get Apple TVs this Tuesday, a full 2 weeks before other retail outlets. Apple is only shipping them 3000 units, which will be spread out to over 800 Best Buy locations, but if you are jonesing for an Apple TV you might have to 'turn on the fun' at Best Buy.Update: It looks like Best Buy might have been overly zealous with the whole 'exclusive' claim. They are still getting about 3000 Apple TVs though, so check it out if you're in the market.

If my math is right, that's less than 4 units per store. I'd guess the Apple TVs will be going to the Magnolia stores, which have the high end home theater stuff.

But best buy sucks! everything about them is terrible and depressing. bumbling idiot sales guys, no macs (at least at my store), 10$ CDs for 15$, having everything you could want, but for 5$ more than anyone else per item...

My Bestbuy store in canada rock. The sales guys are still idiots, but the apple sections has been given a lot more prominence and they always have stock coming in if available. Made my last three apple related purchases there, just because we have no apple store and if we did, the prices would be comparable (though the bag is not as cool).

That's not much of an exclusive, but I don't like it that they are excluding other resellers, the particularly ones that have been supporting their product through thick and thin in favor of a chain that did not.

Apparently Best Buy isn't sure what Apple TV is. They have it listed as an HDTV tuner.

The latest news is that this is not an exclusive at all. I hope that means I can still pick one up at the Apple shop in CompUSA this weekend.
