Look inside Apple TV

You've seen the unboxing pics, and the setup pics, and now you can check out what the Apple TV looks like on the inside. Those wacky people at TechRestore got their hands on an Apple TV and did what any of us would, ripped it apart. There isn't anything too shocking in that little box, but it looks like the hard drive won't be too hard to swap out.

Not everyone has the money for a TV that does HD.

The TV (Apple TV, don't know if  will show up on here) works with standard-def TVs, it just doesn't look as nice.

Why not HD. Everything is going HD (2009). You sound like the guys that used to complain about not having a floopy drive.

If the drive is just a "staging area" as some claim, 40 ought to be enough. You really want to put the big drives on your home media server, which this does NOT replace.

@raindogg: I agree... I want an Apple TV very much but I'm happy with the Standard-Def TV that I have right now as I'm not a big TV person. I can't comment on the quality as I haven't seen one in person yet but Erica Sadun and Engadget seem to like it enough.

I saw it running today at the 5th ave store. I think the HD only was a bad move, the video looks like crap. It's so blown up that my old VHS tapes looks better. They should have made it work on all TV's.

That unit is set upside down, so that HDD is mounted to the bottom plate...seems like it acts as a heatsink, right?

So did they put the hard drive in an enclosure and mount it up to see what's going on?
