Apple says Leopard will ship on time
Michael Gartenberg, with Jupiter Research, called some folks at Apple in light of recent delay rumors surrounding Leopard, the next iteration of OS X. Unnamed people at Apple confirmed with Gartenberg that Leopard is still on track for a Spring release which gives Apple until late June to ship on time.I just hope we get a firm shipping date from Apple soon, all this speculating is making me tired.

hey guys, I'm new to the whole Mac world (just bought my first iMac in February). How much do Mac OS's retail roughly in stores (for when Leopard comes out)?
Thanks.

Some dude I know, actually I read his blog, says his pizza delivery guy downloaded a leaked iso and says Leopard will in fact be Vista with a new skin. (read: sarcasm)

How does late June relate to Spring? Isn't that Summer over there, it's certainly winter down here in New Zealand and we're meant to be polar opposites so how does June relart to Spring?
Does it have something to do with business or something as opposed to actual seasons?

Loweded, Summer starts officially on the summer solstice on June 21st, which is late June. Spring just began on the equinox (March 21st), which gives them three months to release Leopard.

I'm personally getting tired of waiting on Apple to release a NEW iPOD!
How long has it been since Apple updated the iPod w/video? A year?!?
Come on - my old 2G iPod is starting to show its age...let me buy a new one - one with a iPhone-style touch screen and a nice BIG hard drive of 80GB!

Apple had a working Intel version of OS X from its beginning. who knew? My guess is that OS X and some of these top secret features are much further along than Apple is letting on, hence the fitting name Leopard. Apple might just spring it on us this Spring after all.

in addition, our Houston Galleria Apple store is undergoing renovation. i believe the same is true of other locations. if so, i wonder if Apple is gearing up for the combination iPhone/Leopard launch around WWDC? Something big in store? (no pun intended.)

Congrats. I too am a recent full-time switcher [I switched part time about 2 years ago, using a PC for work and a Mac for everything else]. Welcome to the club.
Tiger currently retails for $129 USD, and I know that 10.0 [cheetah] retailed for the same amount. I pretty sure that 10.1-10.3 also did, so it's fair to expect Leopard to retail at that price point too.
Hope that helps :)

The iPod did get an update last fall - it was not much, but it did have a rare Apple price drop plus a few minor feature enhancements. It seems like Apple is shooting for updates just before every Fall season because that's the time when they sell the most iPods.

Humn, it would definitely make sense that the Dev version of Leopard is a trimmed down version from the original super secret feature one. At least this would explain the bugginess, imagine if you hat to chop out huge parts of the source code and build 2 seperate version. Which version do you care more about, the secret original or the open light^^?
I think I'll prey to his mighty Jobness tonight hoping to get a sign.

I just ordered a Macbook yesterday, and was wondering if like all the people who just bought laptops before Vista was released (ick ick comparing apple to microsoft someone strike me with a bricked ipod) if I will get some sort of free/discounted upgrade to Leopard as its going to be released very soon? or should I just refuse the package when fedex arrives and wait to order after the release...
