So you've got an 80GB iPod, but it's bursting at the seams with all of those movies. Wouldn't an extra 20GB be handy? Check out this hard drive upgrade from PDASmart. For $275US, you can get a 100GB upgrade for the 30GB, 60GB or 80GB iPods with video. The drive is a brand new Toshiba MK1011GAH, and includes warranties from both the manufacturer and PDASmart.Note that the 30GB upgrade will include a higher capacity battery and a new back for the iPod, as its size will be increased to that of an 80GB iPod. They offer a mail-in service as well. Be the hippest geek on your block!

You are NEVER going to need 100 gb of files at once, unless for some reason you're using your iPod as a portable hd. Your battery wouldn't last long enough anyway. Just seems like a bit of a waste for me when you could upgrade your RAM or something.

@Ben: Well, nobody NEEDS 100GB of files, nor do they NEED an iPod to begin with. However, people certainly WANT 100GB of space on an iPod. Those of us who have a lot of music would rather keep as much of it as possible on the iPod and have the option to listen to whatever they are in the mood for, not to mention videos and photos.
If YOU don't want 100GB of space, then you don't have to get it, but let the market decide how much space people want on their iPods. You can always get less (and it's to your advantage if the market has larger options, as the price of smaller ones will go down).

Anyone know where we can score one of those drives on our own? $275 for an upgrade? I'd rather buy the drive myself and install it myself. According to that site the part is $275 with an extra $10 for instalation. That still sounds a bit steep for the drive, alone.

I use my iPod while in my car, and the adapter keeps the battery constantly charged. Music is being added over time. Having a 100GB iPod with a constant flow of new music would be marvelous.
Not that I have anywhere near that much music, but for the future this is great! I can see a time when my current 30GB Video's battery starts to tank rather than getting a new one, upgrading HDD/battery would definitely be a worthwhile option.

Wouldn't it kinda be brighter to simply wait for a higher capacity 6th gen iPod?

Is that picture available as a OS X icon? It will look cool as the icon for my iPod.

@Ben, going for the "640K ought to be enough for anyone" title, are you?!
How about those of us who have a compelling need to have every episode of Star Trek TOS in 320x240 H.264/AAC 384kbps/128kbps sitting on their iPod for convenient commute time access?
In 3-5 years, if my iPod doesn't store 1 TB, I'll be mightily disappointed.

They aren't standard notebook hard drives, 1.8" hard drives are even more expensive, being so tiny and all. $275 is probably a fair retail price for the drive. I'm having a hard time finding alternative places to buy the thing so I don't know where else you are going to find it.

$275? Or...you could wait and buy a 6G iPod in a few months for a little more cash.
