"Newton Connection allows you to backup your Newton data to your Mac desktop, import and export Dates, Names, Notes and NewtonWorks, install packages and use your Mac desktop keyboard to enter text on your Newton device. In fact, most of the functions provided by the Newton Connection Utilities, but without the need for the Classic environment."
This is a PPC release and requires Mac OS 10.4 or better. Newton Connection is free.

LOL of course it is only a PPC build. The use old PDAs, why shouldn't they use old computers?

I have been using it for a few months on my Mac Pro using a WaveLAN wireless card in my Newton 2100. Is this new?? as the version numbers are the same. It is a PPC application but works flawlessly in 10.4.9 intel (so far!!)
BTW this is excellent software - it was fiddly to setup, but thats what I expect when connecting 10 years old technology to a Mac Pro. It does not sync, but this can be performed manually and does allow for a backup of the Newton to be done. Installing Newton pkgs is easy, as is the Keyboard support.
Simon Bell is a star for writing software to keep the use of our Newtons going for a few more years.

Yeah, nothing new here, guys. I've been using it for months (just fine) on my MacBook Pro.
It's great for moving data on and off my Newton 2100, and Simon Bell is probably the best Newton programmer out there.
But it DOES NOT SYNC. You should read more, TUAW bloggers. Right on the NCX page is this:
"Newton Connection is work in progress, and the version available here is incomplete. In particular, it does not sync yet!"
Good job, guys.

From the Newton Connection website:

USELESS. Why would they even offer it for download if it doesn't yet do the _only_ thing it is esssential that it do?

okto,
It does export and import data to and from a Newton using OS X. So that part works. Syncing doesn't yet. TUAW misrepresented the software. It is the best solution (while far from perfect, i.e., syncing) for Newton users without OS 9 laying around.
