TUAW Gallery: iTunes on Apple TV
Have you been looking to stream radio to your Apple TV? Or to download some podcasts directly to it, bypassing your main system? Here's a collection of photos showing what things look like when you disable the normal Apple TV software and run iTunes directly on the Apple TV hardware. There's a lot missing--namely the ability to type text for some reason, and all the iTunes labels--but you can still manage to eek out some features that are otherwise missing in the current Apple TV software.
For the most part, you need to run iTunes over a VNC connection from a normal Macintosh, but once you get going you can stream the audio live from any radio station for an indefinite period of time. Make sure to use the Apple Remote about once every twenty-to-thirty minutes to keep Apple TV from automatically going to sleep.

Does adding a radio station "link" to your library not work through the TV? It works through frontrow (I believe), so it would make sense that this is accessible to TV as well.

From now on, I'm calling this thing box-tv, because that's all I see when people try to insert the apple logo. a little box.

Wow, this is really exciting - does this mean I will be able to run The Filter on AppleTV?

"From now on, I'm calling this thing box-tv, because that's all I see when people try to insert the apple logo. a little box." You are either running a dated system, have some font corruption, or not using safari (like some of us) :). Not much anyone can do, since the apple symbol is not an html character http://www.tedmontgomery.com/tutorial/HTMLchrc.html it is just an OS thing.

eek out? Is that when it's extra-daunting? :)
Just teasing, Erica. I wonder when they're gonna try to lock this down.
