SendStation Dock Extender
Your Dock connector equipped iPod is probably one of your prized possessions. You don't want it to get all scratched up when you toss it in your bag, but who wants the hassle of taking it out of its case when you want to play your sweet jams via an iPod Hi-Fi? That's where the SendStation Dock Extender comes in.This little doohickey clicks onto your iPod's Dock Connector with a plug that has the same proportions as Apple's Dock cable. It extends the Dock connector so you can plug your iPod into any Dock Connector ready accessory without having to take it out of its case.
The Dock Extender ships tomorrow for $28.95, which seems a little steep for me.
Thanks, Justin.

Just what I need, except I don't want to pay so stinkin' much! I agree Scott, way too expensive.

But wow...holy crap, I just did a Google search for Dock Extenders and came up with this site:
http://www.cablejive.com/extendercable.html
They sell an extender cable for 65 BUCKS! Yikes.

Just noticed this on their website...
"Your Dock Extender comes equipped with a matching Universal Dock insert with a removable support and three interchangeable bumper caps."
That puts the 28.95 a little bit closer to reason for me to buy. Gosh I really need one of these :(

Doesn't Apple warn you not to charge your iPod inside its case?

File this under the "You've gotta be kidding me!" heading.
It'll join the $6 for a saucer of 6 olives that they were selling at the MoMA cafeteria.

I bought a white latex iSkin (the protector in the photo above) for my iPod when I got it for Christmas. I breathed a sigh of relief and dared to take it out of the house for the first time, but I soon found out it was a pain to use. The latex covering meant the iPod wouldn't easily slide in and out of my pocket, the click wheel wasn't very responsive (although still useable) and of course, the iPod no longer fitted into devices designed to take an iPod.
My solution: the "InvisibleSHIELD" from http://www.shieldzone.com/ipods/. I read all the reviews and watched all the videos and I was impressed. Having bought one, I can honestly say it lives up to the most of the hype. I haven't dared to try scraping the serrated edge of my keys against the iPod yet (as shown in a video I saw), but it has been in the same pocket as my keys, or my loose change, and it is unmarked. Not only that, but I think it'll still fit in my iSkin if I need the extra protection.

I thought the price was high too, but after seeing all it comes with I thought it was worth it. Now I can finally use the iHome I got for xmas without using the audio cable

It'd be convenient, sure. Is it thirty dollars worth of convenient? I dunno. I think I'll just pop the iPod out of its case for now.

Turns out it's not $30, but $61.8 billion. At least, The Consumerist says so. http://flingk.com/7w2a92q
