How do these differ from the videos inside of .Mac? I watched some of those before the free offer ran out.

GarageBand is branded as one word.

Does anyone consider the interface _daunting_? That's surprising, as I found it to be anything but. Mind you, that's compared to the Prosumer DA apps out there like ProTools LE and Cubase.
In fact, it was the ease-of-use of GarageBand specifically that got me to switch to the Mac.

john, was that a rhetorical question?
Obviously its a subjective point - you and I might not find it daunting but my mother, for example, sure as hell would.

Not a rhetorical question at all. I'm genuinely curious. I have what may be an uncommon perspective, in that I've used a bunch of other audio apps before, so in comparison this one seems very uncomplicated.
At the same time, it's now an application that services multiple audiences. Musicians are a particular crowd, and very different from someone who might casually want to put together a podcast. That process is a lot less complicated IMHO than recording a multi-track song with amp simulation, software synths etc.
I know my mother would have a hard time with the program, but then again, I'm not sure it's something she'd use.
