AppleTV Commercial Follow-up
Apple has posted the new Apple TV ad to their website. Eagle-eyed TUAW reader Klemens noticed that the Apple TV in the commercial that first aired yesterday had only a power-cord and no connections to a TV. Here are a few other things you may (or may not) have noticed:
Apple Remote on the coffee table. At 23 seconds in, you see an Apple Remote sitting next to the TV remote on what has to be the cleanest coffee table in the Mac-owning universe.
Triplets. The guy in front of the monitor is the same guy with the iPod in the hallway is the same guy watching TV in the den. The guy is somewhere in the male 17-45 demo, but we don't see his face. There's both a guitar and a kid's toy in the office.
Ikea sensibilities. Shiny. White. Uncluttered. And, really, who wouldn't put out orchids like that on the kitchen table? Beautiful house, isn't it? ChrisM70 thinks it looks a little familiar, but I think it's just uses a similar style.

Wow, this is why apple's commercials are usually on a solid color background. There is wayyy too much to read into it otherwise.

Also, if you'll notice, Apple still places a Sony Bravia LCD HDTV with AppleTV, except with this commercial they've moved to Sony's flagship line (which comes with different bezel-color options, e.g., brushed metal). In the past, AppleTV has been featured with the less-expensive V-series. (My parents just bought a 1080p V series. I immediately regretted graduating college and moving out.

Regarding your comment about the decor in the ad, yes there are some pretty cool things going on. There is a Charles Eames chair, an Arne Jacobson chair, an Isamu Noguchi table, Eero Saarinen table and chairs, and to top it off what looks like a Mark Rothko painting on the wall !
These are all major, major names in the fields of modern design and visual arts. Anyone who might own all these things is doing very well for themselves, especially the painting.

Another thing that my go unnoticed is that John Krasinski (Jim from The Office) is narrating.

Actually, if you really want to see the guy's face, you can see at about 17 seconds in as a reflection in the window as iPod guy is walking away.

TV looks like a Sony XBR2.

Anyone know what Component/TV Stand they are using?

There is also bowl of apples in the first two parts. In the first it's far away on the kitchen counter, in the second it's on the table.
And I don't remember that movie well, but didn't what's his face keep an apple on his desk when he was teaching? (If I remember correctly, I can't spot it)

No connection cable? Hmm... Sony and Apple must be working together on a wifi enabled HDTV that works exclusively with Apple TV. That's the only reasonable assumption, right?

#6 Yenlai:
I think he's referring to the Cyclone side table (Noguchi) next to the Eames' LCW. And also, that's not a Nelson bench, it's actually the Bertoia bench. The slats are too thin and the Nelson bench has connectors in between the slats on both sides and one in the middle.

I thought the first room looked sort of like the house from the first G5 commercial, at least the room the 'wife' is in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iDbHeuRACU

At 5 seconds in, you can see an iMac G4 to the left of the class room. In the movie that is playing on the Intel iMac!!!

@ #12: That is some amazing product placement. Knowing Apple, they probably put that Mac in there three and a half years ago just so that they could use the movie to promote the Apple TV. Crazy stuff.

Go troll somewhere else, Tranquillado. As indicated by the other comments, this was a post of interest, and not at all spurious or "quota-filling".
Just because you don't find something interesting or worthwhile doesn't mean others won't find it interesting and worthwhile.
If you're not interested in something, just move on and read a different article instead of insulting the author.

The bench is neither a Nelson bench or Bertoia bench... it's the Case Study Slat Bench from Modernica. Now we can all finally rest peacefully at night.
