It is ironic that I just recently found this new beta of Missing Sync for Windows Mobile, as a BlackBerry Pearl is arriving today to...

Yup, I agree. I despise Windows mobile and I will auction my Cingular 8525 tomorrow. I will choose the Blackberry Pearl as well. I have the data plan and find that it's not seemless to tether the phone for a 3G data connection for the MacBook. I would prefer a USB broadband card in lieu of tethering. I haven't done too much research, but I know Cingular does not sell a solution so I may look for a separate carrier for my data needs.

I have to reset my phone at least once a week and it freezes on incoming calls quite often. It's even dropped incoming text messages so that I never recieve them. Hopefully Windows Mobile 6 fixes these problems, as I'm going to need a Windows based phone for my job.

It crashes on incoming phone calls, yet *un-crashes* when the call ends and the caller leaves a voicemail. Some dialogs don't offer cancel/exit options, forcing you to proceed. The camera/messaging software is horribly designed and stuck somewhere in 2003... the whole Windows Mobile experience has just been a joke.
And I've wiped this phone clean 3 times since I bought it in November. Statistically speaking, that's about 300% more often than I've ever had to wipe a Windows PC.
After playing with a friend's Pearl, however, I also realized how much farther along in terms of functionality and experience BlackBerry is than Windows Mobile. The dedicated Gmail client for BlackBerry that works with Google Apps for Your Domain or just a standard Gmail address certainly didn't hurt either.
The BlackBerry OS is just a better experience, and I'm sure the fact that BlackBerry is both an OS and a hardware company - not much unlike Apple - doesn't hurt things either.
So what made you slowly hate your blackjack?

April 11 2007 at 4:30 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySame as Steve Platz, I've been syncing forever with my Q and Mac using Missing Sync and never once have turned off the phone radio or gone into flight mode to sync via Bluetooth.
April 11 2007 at 3:28 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI had a slew of problems with Missing Sync for my Treo. I can't imagine how many issues a Mark/Space beat product will cause.
April 11 2007 at 2:59 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI've been syncing without turning on flight mode since I got my phone last May. I didn't realize this was an issue...
