New Get a Mac Ads

Apple has posted some new Get a Mac ads. "Flashback" (above) has Mac and PC as kids doing then just about what they do now. And "Computer Cart" lampoons Windows' cryptic error messages. The last of this set ("Security") has been out for a while. Fun stuff!
Thanks, Josh!

While the "Security" spot still brings a smile to my face (and this from someone who uses Vista Ultimate and OS/X on a daily basis), the two new spots just seemed to be sad to me. I'm not really sure what was missing, but they definitely didn't quite have the snap and humor that I'd come to expect from these...

In the "Flashback" ad, shouldn't the Mac's pictures be in 1-bit black and white? =]

Hehehe. They're stretching it a little with the "Computer Cart" one. Macs may not get that wmp.dll error, but they have plenty of their own cryptic error messages.

They seem to be getting more and more repetitive. I love these commercials but they need to keep thinking of new ideas. The Security has got to be the best one yet.

I dunno, I've never really liked the ads. Mostly because PC ends up being more likeable. Plus, I'd think it would be hard to convince someone who uses Windows for everything that it's a "spreadsheet box". I, being a 100% Pure Apple Fan, know what makes Macs better than PCs, but I also know how hard it is to convince people that.

More likable?
In real life "likable" is not an adjective I'd immediately apply to someone who told you he was going to calculate how much time you'd wasted. Against that, I suppose one could say in the context of the advert it doesn't grate: it's just wacky.
But, while everyone of course likes John Hodgman, the adverts do give the PC character a slight edge now and then. He can be annoying at times, and on one occasion he was (mildly) aggressive even though it was Christmas. But at bottom I don't think the adverts mean to make the PC unlikable. He's just faintly ridiculous and turns out to be less fun that you might think he is. The underlying message is: Do you really want him on your desk? I think the hospital trolley advert does a good job of saying just that.

Yipee! New Mac adds, so post away!
Meanwhile, VMWare's new beta has been out for days with Boot Camp support, and there's been zip mentioned about it here.
Thanks for the *most* useful and *important* information about the platform. Sigh.

Why, everytime I try to view the cart ad, does my work PC crash? I get a plugin error and then a ms send error report msg...!
The flashback one is fine.

At the tender age of 17, I did use OS/System 7 and by god.. It was nothing like OSX, so no, it wasn't always the same :(.

Two words: kernel panic.

And if you want a cryptic error message, I've gotten the following before while installing a program after it (the installer, not the computer) crashed out:
"An error occured while installing the application."
That was it. No other explanation. I like my MacBook, but let's not idolize them, 'kay?

Hehe.
I saw the "Flashback" commercial while I was watching Lost. Right after Juliet's flashback.
