Rig of the Week: Oh, the horror

This week's rig was chosen for one reason only: It made us shudder. We realize that the Cube wasn't exactly Apple's greatest success, but this is like using a Ferrari as a doorstop. At least we can take consolation in the fact that it's not at the dump. Poor little Cube.

One word missing above, meant: stock CPU & GPU

I would never do that!

I guess it can handle warming up a little. Probably CPU & GPU, running light - average duty and you're in a cool or airconditioned environment. Cubes run quite cool.

Too bad Apple never continued with them. Pack an Intel C2D, 2GB RAM, mid range GPU with dual displays, GB Ethernet etc in there and I'm sold!

The mac mini will not raise my plant high enough, but thanks for the tip!

But don´t worry, the Cube is safe and it´s not exposed to any moisture. :-)

Dude, just buy a Mini and sell the cube to someone who will keep it cherry, then.

Cubes are awesome machines, and perform quite well for average home uses if you upgrade them (like with a dual 1.8GHz G4 processor)

My stock 450MHz one is currently an iTunes/light tasks machine, but I want to fit Mac Mini components inside it and use as a HTPC (inspired by a guy on another site).
