Target will sell Apple TV
First it was Best Buy, now AppleInsider is reporting that US retailer Target will become the next third party chain to sell the Apple TV. You can expect to see units in stores by the end of the month (you can currently get one online at Target's website), and a few locations will even feature full-blown demo setups. It has been reported that Apple TV sales have been a bit slow at Best Buy, so who knows what will happen at Target. Let us know if you see any, especially a demo model.

Actually, much to my surprise, they are also on sale at the Navy Exchange. I saw them at NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA today. This is also the same NEX where I bought my MacBook.
Does the NEX count?

I was at Best Buy yesterday and managed to happen upon the Apple TVs by accident -- a nearly impossible task as they had two in the store, both sitting on the bottom shelf in a dark corner of the home entertainment section, underneath the DirecTV systems. It was a really classy getup.

Bought one at Best Buy last week. Thought it was strange where they had decided to keep them, by the Tivo's and DirecTV boxes. Found them by accident, had looked before in the computer section by the other media boxes.
Oh well, got one and think it's pretty darn nifty.

Yeah we were looking for an external HD tuner at Best Buy last week ($180, what a ripoff!) and the 2 AppleTVs were stacked right next to that on the display, it seemed retarded to me. If they really wanted to sell them they would hook them up to one of the nice LCD screens (that is probably in part up to Apple, Best Buy probably asked for Demo Units and is still waiting) and show off some good looking content. I don't object to them being grouped with TiVo, I think that is the market they want to place it in, but just a bit more effort at marketing might help. If anybody at Apple is reading this and needs someone to go to Best Buys/Targets on the East Coast to dress up their aTV displays let me know, that sounds like possibly the only sales rep job on the planet that wouldn't make me want to injure myself after a couple of months.

Up until a few days ago, our Best Buy never even had the Apple TV on display, even though they've had one hooked up to a Windows PC for several weeks. The demo unit is near the DirecTV boxes, hooked up to a 23" Samsung. The tether the remote was on was really tight so you have to use one hand to keep the tether extended.

I'm not surprised. I talked to the clerk at Best Buy and he said they've haven't sold a single unit out of 6. This seems to be a growing tend with new Apple products. They sale for a few days to core base, and then cool off big time. It makes me wonder about the iPhone.

We're not actively selling them yet, but I work at Target and we got a couple of them in stock last week.

It's more of a Best Buy trend... New products sell to those who know about them and then the incapable sales staff fail to meet customer needs by recommending appropriate products.
