Replacement Adobe CS3 icons galore
Back in January we mentioned a contest over at Quark Vs Indesign.com to design replacement icons for Adobe CS3. That contest has now ended and the entries are available for download. Coincidentally, Joshua Bryant also has a post up linking to a variety of replacement CS3 icon sets. I have to say I don't really get the judges over at Quark Vs Indesign, as the first place winner there is a bit over the top in my view. Nonetheless, both sites have more subtle icons sets that I think are far superior to the default Adobe periodic table icons. Of all of these, I personally favor the gorgeous set by Adam Betts (right) based on the CS3 box design. So if you're looking to augment or replace your CS3 icons check out Quark Vs Indesign and Joshua Bryant for a lot of options.
Do you have any other favorite CS3 icon sets not mentioned?

I must be the only one who likes the regular icons.

Even though Adam Betts' icon set is gorgeous in its own right, I have to Zachary, in that I also really like the default set. Oh well, too each their own.
And wow, the first place winner over there is... well, mildly frightening, heh.

Anyone know where I could find sets of the old icons? Even as far back as before CS? I always liked the Eye and Venus.

There's a lot of crap in that contest. The best ones are from Adam Betts. BTW, if you want to replace the splash screen of your CS2 apps, visit this links.

The contest is finally over. Don't mean to offend but... some of those icons look worse than Adobe's original ones. (IMO) I wouldn't ever think of ACTUALLY using the winner.

here's another CS3 icon collection, for those who loved the original icons, but want them to look more outstanding. it's simple and not so different from the original, but better and shiny-er :D

As long as they get rid of that scary clown/jester mascot it's good.

I prefer the default set. They're simple and easy to see.
Too many of my dock icons are shades of blue; I can't tell you how many times I've launched iTunes thinking it was Safari.

Except for Adam's and one other (similarly simple set) they are all about as horrible as it can get. I'm surprised that more people with talent didn't enter the contest.
Photo collages don't make good icons! The winning set is about the worst one of the bunch.

Keep in mind, the people selecting the winners of this contest were probably the same people who chose the original horrific icons.

Woah... those are some pig-ugly icons. Adam's set is by far the best.

Does anyone know how to install these icons in Vista?
