Griffin announces iTrip Pocket
Late last week, Griffin announced the availability of the iTrip Pocket, their smallest FM transmitter yet. Designed to match the overall look of the iPod nano, it's about the size of a matchbook and will work with the 1st and 2nd generation iPod nano, as well as the 4th and 5th generation iPod. Plus, their "Smart Display" feature lets you adjust settings on the iPod's screen. The tiny little transmitter fits right on your keychain and costs $49.99US.

The form factor looks great, and the long battery life of the 2G nano is a good fit for a self-powered FM transmitter. However, based on their previous models, is this likely to work well in Los Angeles? I had an iTrip circa the 3G iPod, and although it worked reasonably well in other cities, it was lousy in L.A. because of the extensive frequency use in this area -- I never could find a consistently clear frequency to use, or at least overpower with the transmitter.

LA does suck for using an FM tuner that's for sure. Maybe that's why nobody owns a Zune...lolz.

I have been looking for an FM transmitter, and this looks perfect. I ordered one this morning, and just got an email saying they're "back ordered."
No time estimate was given.
