Walt Mossberg knows how to get his Steveness to talk, it would seem. Jobs just announced that come mid-June Apple will be rolling out a new free feature for all Apple TVs: the ability to watch YouTube videos on the Apple TV. Hmm, and who owns YouTube? Oh, that's right... Google.I suppose this is one of those surprises that is meant to delight us. Works for me!
Some pics from Engadget after the jump.

A new YouTube menu item. And here is the interface for using it:

Youtube is one of the worlds top 10 website according to alexa. No wonder Apple is supporting it :-)

What is the point in this? Searching for videos without a keyboard doesn't sound like fun.

The Apple press release says the 160GB version will be available tomorrow. The same press release says YouTube functionality will be released mid-June.

The Apple TV is a cheap (not inexpensive) gadget. 720 resolution? why? 1080 isn't cutting edge these days - ITS STANDARD! 720 is native only on second tier TVs. This is a novelty only.

I'm not a YouTube fan personally but at times I find myself there so I'm with #3, It will all be about browsing, how to find the content is everything.

They better get some parental controls on this thing soon. The last thing you want is for an 8 year old to finish watching "Finding Nemo" and then click his way into the latest 19 year old whore stripping for her webcam on youtube.
