The NetNewsWire 3.0 beta is now over. That's right, RSS junkies,
NNW 3.0 is now publicly available. I've been using NetNewsWire 3.0 since Macworld 2007, and it has really come together in the last few months. There are lots of new features, including:
- Growl support
- Spotlight integration
- Twitterific support
- A New UI
- Performance enhancement (this sucker screams on Intel Macs)
- Improved Tabbed browsing
- Microformat support
That's just the tip of the iceberg in regards of to new features. Check out
Newsgator's website for all the details.
NetNewsWire 3.0 is available now and costs $29.95. Upgrading is free, if you have the NewsGator Online Premium Package. NetNewsWire Lite, the free version of NNW, is still a work in progress.

Congrats Brent on shipping the best darn version of NetNewsWire yet! I too have been using it as my exclusive newsreader since early spring and thoroughly appreciate all the new features.

Good version but …
Unfortunately no more French version :-(
I hope that will quickly be corrected.

So we have alpha builds for weeks, then yesterday go to a beta build and today the full release version? Wow...Brett's impressive. I'm constantly switching back and forth between NNW and Google Reader, but absolutely love the new version of NNW. It may keep me off Reader for awhile.

Tabbed browsing isn't new — I have the feature in NetNewsWire 2.1.1. That said, "tabs with thumbnails and animations" is.

loading subscriptions is very slow, downloading and parsing feeds is even slower, it slows down the whole system, lots of beachballs, then it crashes. Tried 3 times, same thing... It's unusable on my dual 2.3 PPC...

Warning: if you have a lot of articles stored in NetNewsWire, don't upgrade. I had 32637 articles in the previous version and 3.0 just chokes. It's unusable.

Jeroen, did you delete your entire folder or parts of it? I don't really want to lose my 200+ subscriptions.
I love NNW but the utter slowness of it as of late has me wondering if I should start to look elsewhere.
