TUAW crashes WWDC, invites friends over to party

Keeping with the tradition of our unofficial nature, TUAW will be party-crashing next week's Worldwide Developer's Conference. While we won't be brushing up on our kernel debugging, we may very well be outside protesting the lack of a common UI. Mostly we'll be around to give readers at home a feel for the massive codejam that is WWDC, conduct a few interviews, and host a little get-together on Monday night.

Oh, and did I mention the TUAW t-shirts we'll be randomly giving away all week?

If you're interested in showing off your Cool New App let us know!

Folks, we'll be at House of Sheilds starting at around 7 or 8pm. Won't start giving away shirts until at least 10pm.

Cool! I'll swing by the House of Shields Monday night, then... What time will the TUAW gang be there?

I'll be the girl with the mohawk, tattoos, SF byke messenger hoodie, combat boots, Nokia N95 and OQO Model 02 :)

You can add your name to the list for the meetup here:

I'll be there. I am going to attempt to keep some folks back home updated at http://blog.brianwyrick.com during the keynote... we'll see how well that works out.

I'm going and I'd love to say hi to you guys. If you want to find me, I'll be the person hopping around with his right leg in a cast (does that get me a T-shirt?) ;)

Guys, I highly recommend not feeding the trolls. They're here to provoke, confront, insult and push buttons any way they can; they aren't here for genuine interaction. Adding fuel to the fire ruins the community and the discussion for everyone who is here to learn and exchange ideas.

@ars_workerbee (#6): Isn't that exactly what I said? Also please note that the HIG are *guidelines*, not commandments.

@!: bzzt. try again.

what a perfect example of the perversion of the brushed metal/aqua divide.

"You can use a brushed metal window if your application:

- Is a single-window application that provides a source list to navigate information—for example, iTunes or the Finder
- Strives to re-create a familiar physical device—Calculator or DVD Player, for example
- Provides an interface for a digital peripheral, such as a camera, or an interface for managing data shared with digital peripherals—iPhoto or iSync, for example

You should not use a brushed metal window if your application:

- Is a multi-window application—for example, Interface Builder
- Is a document-based application—for example, TextEdit

Use the brushed metal window look for the primary application window and other windows that meet the above criteria—for example, the Equalizer window in iTunes. Don’t use it for supporting windows, such as preferences and other dialogs. It is acceptable to have a mix of standard Aqua windows and brushed metal windows within an application, as the Finder does."
