Thanks to Erica and Laurie for pointing out that if you're having a bit of a time with your shiny new Safari 3 Beta for Mac goodness, there's a quick way back to the safe harbor of Safari 2: run the uninstaller thoughtfully included in the disk image. Well played, Apple.User reports of finicky Safari 3 beta experiences on the Mac (as opposed to the Windows reports we're collecting here) are showing up on Macintouch now.

Yeah, for some reason Safari 3 kept it's metal look for me. Can't figure out how to get the unified look for the life of me.

There is an issue with Safari 3.0b and iChat. After installing Safari 3.0b, any *NEW* iChat connections with a buddy freezes the iChat TEXT window. After the initial connection, everything appears to work fine, but this is a very big issue.

I can't believe the Windows users got the BETTER version of the beta!

Tried it, loved it, reverted. The new version works great but is incompatible with the ad-blocking plugin PithHelmet. I don't know if there can be an update to PithHelmet, I heard a rumor that SIMBL would be deprecated in Leopard.

If your using 3.0 on a mac and you did the debug menu terminal things, there and option under user agent use safari 2.0.4
Maybe if you encounter a site that wont load, that will make it (not that ive found one...works flawlessly
% defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1
Type that into terminal for debug.
@1, is it supposed to have the iTunes 7 look?

1. Doesn't work with input-manager plugins. Arggh. This is not a surprise, but is a disappointment.
2. Fast.
3. I get a weird potpurri of Mac, Windows, and "future-Mac" form widgets. I've posted a screenshot to the TUAW flickr pool.

When Steve started talking about wanting increased market share for Safari, I was hoping he was going to announce some kind of format for extensions so that all the Firefox users would switch back. Alas, I will stick with FF, though I did download the beta.

Yes !!...Thank goodness for the uninstall Pkg. That was the one thing that worked well on my Mac. The Windows version on my PC is actually working very nicely. Snappy and fast, though pretty ugly with the Windows bland motif but.... However on my Mac, it just kept crashing and crashing, especially on the second "parentally managed account" for my 10 year old son. I was able to revert all back to v2.0 before he experienced anything and avoid his wrath (*joke*)....all is good now.....I'm a Firefox User anyway and only Safari for the parental feature., on my son's account. I'll just wait for a bug-free production version in the fall.....

Yes, it's faster than before. I tried scrolling down a table with 6000+ rows with none of the perceptible delay in 2.0.
The inputmanager plugins do not work. I was surprised by the ads on this site when I came and then I realized safariblock is not working anymore.
The frames bug that prevents proper resizing of the frame split bar has been fixed. A sample page would be the api.rubyonrails.com site.

Reverting back? Are we going back? Just reverting? Revert back = double-negative. Me = pedant. Sorry. :(

I'm using FF at the moment, I need to revert to 2.0.4. Safari 3 will not work for, it will not launch, even after a fresh restart. I did my own backup of Safari 2.0.4 and it will not even launch, nor will Webkit. Anyone have an idea how to get it to work?

Better than that -- tried closing this tab with text in the box and I get a new message:
"Are you sure you want to close this tab?"
"You have entered text on..." etc
Very cool

Well Revert is a verb. So it is fine to say your returning to a previous state or condition. Therefore, reverting back is ok.

Just a note that it updates webkit so the rendering speed improvements affect all WebKit based browsers. I don't use Safari but I'm leaving the beta installed because both OmniWeb and NetNewsWire are both significantly faster under the beta.

Install of Safri 3 froze - had to reboot.
Un-install does not remedy.
Can no longer launch Safari or iChat.
Just got my fingers burned with beta software.
Never again!
Will archive and install tomorrow

I tried Safari 3. It was very unstable, crashed at the slightest provocation. Sadly I didn't notice the uninstall option when, late at night, in desperation decided to get rid of it. So I now have no Safari 3 and can't get Safari 2.0.1 back becuase it won't install on my OS which is 10.4.9
And how do you ever contact Apple to ask for help?
