A is for AppleCare

Laptop Magazine has run their Tech Support Showdown once again, testing the quality of tech support from various notebook computer vendors. And once again, Apple take the top spot with A's across the board. Gateway (surprisingly?) joins Apple as the only other vendor with an overall A. Apple maintained its A grade from the previous Showdown (while Lenovo, the only other A in the last survey, dropped off).

Apparently Apple phone techs went above and beyond, even answering questions beyond Apple's 90-day phone support limit. Strangely, Apple was alone in having an automated wait time annoucement on their phone system.

In any case, A is for AppleCare yet again this year.

I'm sure you're happy with Apple Care, and that's great and all, but this is hardly a fair compairson. There's no computer company worst then ACER. They stink on ice.

I've only ever gotten horrible service from Apple. Such as the time they told me that podcast's are not a supported use for my iPod shuffle v2. Is it just that 98% of them are good, but the 2% are incredibly horrible? What gives? I hate AppleCare, even worse are the "Geniuses" in the apple store.

Apple can afford to provide good tech support when they charge twice as much for a comparable computer. But it is very nice that they actually do. If you are rich and need babysitting and hand-holding, Apple is an excellent choice.

Apple care service personnel seem like they are just as upset that your Mac or Apple product is not working as you are. How many other companies can say that? Way to go Apple!

I just sent in my macbook because of the plastic discoloration which I got on May 13 2006 ( A month after it released I know wait for the 2nd Generation) & I made a phone call for service on May 13 2007 & they still helped me. And the results of how they fixed it are amazing. On June 18th I shipped it in & they had ready on June 20th at 5pm. Beautiful. & they always remind you to backup computer as a precaution

And we still have to plead with PC-users to switch to Macs. Go figure...

Good job Apple!

I must agree on them giving Acer a "D" on their website. I think Acer products are good (nothing fancy, but get the job done with out breaking), but this is just judged off one laptop I briefly used and my monitor. Their website is bad, though. When I was looking at monitors, the picture on the product page essentially has this as the caption on the bottom: "The monitor pictured might not be the same model as what this page is about".
