iPhone gallery shows off Dock, iPhone headphones

Eagle eyed TUAW reader Eric noticed that Apple has updated the iPhone photo gallery. Not only that, but they updated it to include pictures of a heretofore unseen iPhone dock. Not the most groundbreaking of news, I will admit, but since we have relatively little information about the iPhone we need to obsess over something, right?
The gallery also includes a better picture of the iPhone headphones, which include a microphone so you needn't lift the iPhone to your head when someone calls you while you're listening to Macy Gray (or any other artist, one assumes).
Update: It would seem that we have could a glimpse of the iPhone dock before, during the intro keynote. That glimpse was fleeting though, so now you can stare at the dock for hours and hours.

fraserdrew is right: if you go back and watch the January keynote, there is a fleeting glimpse of the iPhone dock, though I don't believe Jobs says anything about it outright.

@1: The black bit on the bottom is plastic -- the back of the phone is anodized aluminum. I.e., no signals through that part. plastic means you'll be able to use the phone.
@5: See above, or did you mean the volume controls and ring/silent switch?

I may be wrong, but have we seen an image of the "right" side of the phone? I am speaking of the side opposite the Volume and silent buttons. I looked through the gallery and didn't see it there. I wonder if there is something (not yet released) there? SD maybe?

How long before Apple stops including the iphone dock?

At least we now have a clear shot of the top of the unit. I think it's pretty obvious that we have the headphone jack, SIM tray, and sleep/wake button.
I don't know why there was so much commotion over "Does it have a removable sim or not?" I always thought Jobs made it obvious that it was at the top of the phone, but now the photo makes it quite clear.

Is it still going to work with the universal dock, or do I have to buy a new piece of plastic for my desk?

So is it confirmed that you get the dock and the headphone/mic as standard equipment?

@6&8: Thanks. I had assumed, but wasn't sure. Nice to see that Apple will be including the one feature I like on my current piece of junk.

I really hope this isn't the "real" "official" iPhone dock, I would like to think they could come up with something more creative than the old standard iPod white plastic dock for the coveted iPhone... something closer to the rest of the styling.. possibly more of an aluminum look, or at least closer to the "Black" iPhone theme...

hey, will there be any other earphones coming with a mic? I wonder. (Maybe that will be the next trend of earphones, lol. )

So have we seen a pic of the official Apple Bluetooth headseat yet?

It looks awful in white! They should have made the dock black as well as doing a black earphones with maybe a little touch of anodized metal on them.
Really don;t understand why they didn't carry those little details through. It looks like:
Jobs/Ive: "yeah we spent hours on the iPhone industrial design, the touch interface, battery positioning, specific metal choices and colours"
Me: "yeah it looks good, what about headphones or a dock"
Jobs/Ive: "yeah we have that covered, we just threw in the same crap we distribute for our iPods, but put a little speaker thing on the wire"
Me: "riiiight"

David McLeod, I suggest that you stop embarrassing yourself.

Black earphones? - Yeah, Apple wants to look like everyone else. *rolls eyes*
Apple's signature color for accessories is white. It's partly the reason why the iPod is such an icon in pop culture.
> Jobs/Ive: "yeah we spent hours on the iPhone >industrial design, the touch interface, battery >positioning, specific metal choices and colours"
You don't seem to know the difference:
Industrial design = FORM and FUNCTION.
Touch interface = ENGINEERING. Jobs confessed that what makes the iPod great is its software. "iPod is software wrapped with beautiful hardware."
Metal choices and colours = Important part of design (weight & volume), but other than this, it's pure STYLING.

Don't you think that the iPhone will fit/work with any iPod dock that tolerates, say, the 30/80GB "video" iPod? The dimensions of the iPhone are nearly identical (well, the width of the base, and down to a couple hundreths of an inch in thickness)
