Dashcode beta expired on schedule
Well, not exactly everywhere, as apparently there is still a working version of Dashcode in the Leopard developer beta given out at WWDC. And of course all of us will be able to get our hands on the official release of Dashcode when Leopard comes out in October. So cry not, developers-- the real thing is only months away.

Niclet sends a note that yes, Dashcode's December 2006 v0.9 beta did in fact expire as expected last night. That sound you heard around...

In fact, forget the AppleScript way - here's the right way to do it - a patch directly in the binary (solution for both Intel based and PPC based):

Even though Dashcode did expire, there's still a way to run it without having to wait for Leopard.
I've written an AppleScript that will launch Dashcode and get around the expiry problem - you can get it from the link below:

Oh sure, THIS is on schedule -_-

July 15 2007 at 6:23 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySo only the developers who paid Apple for a better membership are legally allowed to keep working with Dashcode. Maybe they should stop in protest, so there will be fewer widgets at launch for Apple to brag about. I guess that's like suggesting they stop working on "iPhone apps" until a real SDK comes, though.
July 15 2007 at 6:09 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI use Dashcode to debug during my Widget development (if the error isn't completely obvious that is) and nearly died when it stopped working yesterday (I'm in Australia and therefore the future).
Good thing is, it started working again after i rolled my clock back. The tried and old school way of stopping things expiring. So if you really need to use it, roll your Mac's date back a year.
my original leaked verison still works.
July 15 2007 at 4:16 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyRemember that Dashcode was released in 2006 when Leopard was still on track for a summer 2007 release. Maybe they'll release another one that lasts until October.
