MacBU is alive, promises Universal RDC and file convertors
It appears the Microsoft Mac Business Unit is alive after all as they popped up with an announcement of coming attractions for "the week of July 30th." They'll finally be offering a Universal Binary of the Remote Desktop Client which allows you to control Windows computers from your Mac (thereby hopefully addressing some of Scott's concerns). In addition they're promising beta 2 of the much lamented Office 2007 file format converters with "a significant Word refresh and the addition of PowerPoint (.pptx)." In fact, the new General Manager of the MacBU Craig Eisler recently introduced himself and called for more "dialog" with customers. At least it's nice to know that things do seem to be progressing up there in the long wait for a Universal version of Office.
Thanks, Space Taker.

If they can throw in parity with the Vista version of RDC I'll be very happy indeed.

[crystal ball swirls]
"I see an iTunes-like interface ... with a list of hosts down the left-hand side ... and selecting one allows you to alter the settings for that connection in the right pane of the window ... double-clicking it will connect to the host ... the host appears in the right pane of the window with an option to open it into its own, separate window thus allowing you to keep your single-session sessions consolidated while also allowing for multiple sessions ..."
Wait, what just happened??
Cheers,
FL

Eh, I got tired of waiting for MS and was having all sorts of problems running RDC under Rosetta, but luckily I saw someone mention CoRD and I've been having very good luck with that as a Universal remote desktop app:

CoRD is indeed fantastic, though rdesktop (on which it's based) still has some compatibility issues, and as far as I know CoRD doesn't work with Vista (yet)—at least, it didn't last time I tried.

I think Mac users tend to forget that Microsoft is the largest Mac developer.
