Free TV spotlighted on iTunes store
Reader Matthew kindly sent us a tip (thanks!) that the TV Shows section of iTunes is currently featuring a five page listing of free television episodes available for download. As you might expect, lots of it is junk-- apparently Scott Baio has another television show, and someone thought it was a good idea to call it "Scott Baio is 45... and Single," but there are some shows worth watching in there, including a BSG wrapup (hey, gotta watch something to hold us over), a few Gray's Anatomy shows, and the pilot of Jericho (those are all iTunes links). So if you're looking for some free quality video (or just something to play on your iPhone for that trip you're about to head out on), looks like the iTunes store has it.
Update: Our commenters also point out that there's lots of good free TV hidden in iTunes' podcast section as well-- two episodes of Flight of the Conchords is much better than anything you'll see highlighted in the free section.

Don't forget that there are also full-length episodes of some television shows that are in the podcast listings. There are now 2 full episodes of HBO's Flight of the Conchords on iTunes, about a dozen episodes of Real Time with Bill Maher, as well as the first episode of John from Cincinnati. The first episode of Extras was available as a free podcast, but is no longer available.

Flight of the Conchords is awesome offbeat humour, sprinkled with completely random folk music. It's great stuff...
(without wanted to be pedant of the day - the tag 'graysanatomy' should be 'greysanatomy', with an 'e')

I've got one question. If Helvetica is installed by default on all Macintosh computers, why is the text showing up in Arial?

And before you say Michael's crazy. I'll vouch that he was the first post. TC somehow showed up first after I commented.

The Real Time with Bill Maher episodes in the podcast section are audio-only. Please don't get my hopes up like that again. :P

One more thing NOT available to the non-US customers.
I really hate Apple for her only US and Canada policy, there are people in the rest of the world you know!

I agree with err.. "loser" I'm dying to get my hands on some iTunes TV downloads. I'm sure I would spend quite a bit on there if I was allowed access here in the UK :(

Re: the Bill Maher podcasts. Yes, they're audio, but come on, it's a discussion show! When I got rid of HBO last year my one regret was losing Maher, but the podcasts are about 95% as enjoyable as the video episodes were. Once or twice a show, there's a visual joke. Otherwise, it's all talk anyway, and just as funny to listen to as to watch--maybe even more so. This is a tremendous value that HBO provides for free. When the show is in season, the only downside is the delay: the new episode airs on a Friday night, and they don't put up the podcast until Wednesday. Other than that, I don't miss the video version at all.

why wait for itunes to release any good free tv shows when you can already get just about any show free online
http://sharetv.org/watch - watch free tv shows online in high-quality
http://sharetv.org/shows - download tons of tv shows for free
http://tv-links.co.uk - has every show you can think of, but many are not so good quality
