Apple posts Airport update
Last week many, many of you reported problems with wifi since the OS X 10.4.10 update. Fortunately, Apple appears to have heard your cries of anguish and has released the Airport Extreme Update 2007-4. Apple doesn't say much about what the update contains but does say it "is recommended for all Intel-based MacBook, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini computers and improves the reliability of AirPort connections."So, for those of you who had problems, did this fix it?
Thanks, Kender!

of course, apple would never say that it is fixing the kernel panic feature de tu the airport card, because it would mean that they admit that there is a link between those two issues.

I've just installed this, and after a slightly longer boot, I'm not having any problems. But I guess you can't tell until nothing happens for a long time.
But no lost connection yet, no kernel crash.
Only thing, I still don't pick up as many wifi access points on my Macbook Pro as my girlfriends Macbook. Explain that one!

Hmmm... Not sure I want to try this out... I had to suffer through the notoriously crippling Airport update, but my WiFi has been rock stable since the intervening 10.4.10. First gen 15" MacBook Pro here.

Does this cover airport express stations as well, as that is what I have been having problems with.

umm so far so good..my problem was that it would randomly just cut off wifi in the middle of browsing the web.. to restore it. i had to shut the lid of my macbook.. put it in sleep for a sec.. then wake it up again.. .. its just as annoying as it cutting to the home screen randomly on safari while you are on your iPhone.

This solved my problem perfectly.
I normally share my internet connection out through AirPort, so that I don't have to suffer with the slow EDGE connection on my iPhone. Ever since 10.4.10, this has been very unreliable, often stalling in the middle of loading a webpage.
Today's AirPort update fixed that. Now the connection is extremely reliable and even doing stuff like streaming MP3's works beautifully.

Actually, for me it makes my working WLAN break totally. I can load 2-5 pages and then it suddenly drops. Have to use cable. How can I revert?

I like updates pyschologically they reassure me that Apple is constantly fiddling with OSX to make it a better product. I hope this fixes my wireless connection issues.

well I'm not at home right now BUT
I'm using very unreliable WiFi signals in LA and since installing the update, my internet connection has been way more reliable. Now I can finally got to downloading the new Doc converter and RDC.
I wonder what the changed the download was only 1.4mb.

This fixed the problem. Now I don't get licked off my wireless connection, No more Kernal Shutdowns, and best off all I can do all this on the battery.

Ok,
So we have a Philips Wi-fi here in Belgium because we need digital tv and so..
The problem was when it was downloading for a few minutes I just disconnected and couldn't reconnect anymore, then I allways needed to make a windows boot to make it work again(I know very weird) and I just reboot in OSX and it works.
Now with the update it still happens but it reconnects after some time of waiting.. so I'm happy I don't have to reboot in Windows to solve my issue.
We're allmost there!!

Anyone else out there have probs with Firefox on the Macs? Every time I am on wifi and switch to battery power, Firefox stops working. I usually have to quit Firefox, turnoff / on the airport, and start Firefox back up.

Well after 2 months of being plugged into my DSL modem through an Ethernet cord, it seems that Apple has finally got it together and fixed the problem.
Now if next time they can do me a favor and not break Airport in an OS update in the first place, I'd really appreciate it.
Yes, I am bitter, but 2 months without wireless will do that to you.

#9: This is an update for the Airport *cards* in Intel-based Macs—irrespective of the sort of base station being used.

I was slightly miffed when I had a kernel panic yesterday whilst only doing some moderate browsing via wi-fi on my intel Mac Mini.

I had my first ever kernel panic on my MacBook since I bought it exactly a year ago, but I had no idea why, but now I do. Also had similar problems connecting to WiFi..kept droping off...annoyed the heck out of me. just installed the update but it's too warly to tell if it has fixed this problem.
