Keyboard software update 1.1 is available

I think this past week represents the most we've ever written about a keyboard.

Apple's cryptic description of keyboard software update 1.1 - released this morning - reads:

" Install this software to use your aluminum Apple Keyboard and take advantage of the special features."

Run this installer if you're lucky enough to own one of those paper-thin keyboards, and let us know how it goes.

I just received the new Apple wired keyboard and have the same problem with the F3 and F4 keys. I have done the named 1.1 update without success (twice in fact for good measure figuring it did not update right the first time). The F3 and F4 keys still do not work. I have also followed the suggestions listed above with out success. Anyone been able to fix this problem??

Thank you,

m in the same boat, what's weird is I had my co worker install the software and connect the kb and he was able to get both expose and dashboard buttons but I can't get them working on mine, what gives? I'm sure this will be something that gets addressed soon but it's kinda annoying.

Same problems here too... :(

Here's my setup:

MacBook Pro 15" & 23" Cinema Display

F1 / F2 Brightness - OK
F3 Expose - Not working
F4 Dashboard - Not working
F7 - F12 Audio and iTunes - OK

I talked to Apple tech support this morning and they have not heard of the problem yet (or at least are not acknowledging it). After running through basically everything I had already done last night (reinstalling keyboard update, installing it on a test account, plugging it directly into my MacBook Pro instead of running it through the Cinema Display), they said the last options were to try and exchange the keyboard for a new one at a retail store (yeah right), or to do an Archive and Restore of the entire OS. Sorry, but they can kiss my A$$! Seems like it's a widespread problem with these keyboards plugged into MacBook Pro's. You think they'd test this exact setup before shipping, but I guess not. Dissappointing to say the least.

BTW - it works great with my Dual G5 tower at home. :P

Not what one expects from Apple... Smacks of Windows a bit this...!

I can't say I've ever heard of a keyboard needing a firmware update.

The update didn't do anything for me. I bought the new iMac on Weds and the keys were mapped already without the update. I'm thinking the update really only helped those people who purchased just the keyboard.

Last night, I went to the Mayfair Mall Apple Store (Wauwatosa, WI...near Milwaukee). None of the function keys worked on any of the 3+ new keyboards I tried. I'm hoping this update fixes the problem.
