Rock on with Rocklighter for the iPhone
Stop the presses! We've found the killer app for the iPhone. Forget about serious applications or complicated games-- the only bookmark you need for your new cell phone is right here: Rocklighter.I happened to be at a concert last week, and the lead singer asked everyone not to raise their lighters, but their DSes, PSPs, and cell phones. If you've got an iPhone, now you can show your support for "Free Bird" without bringing out an open flame. Rock on!
Thanks, ethan!

Does the iPhone have a motion sensor? So the flame could move sidewards upon moving the iPhone? And can you blow the flame out by blowing into the microphone (like Disco)? And can you ajust the intensity like on a real lighter?
Sorry guys, only then would it be the killer app. Otherwise I could put a flame as a background image on my phone.
HAHA i love this!! so bookmarked..

Actually, this is slightly different - it's a loop that's hosted on a web page and can be navigated to in your browser. iScorch is made up of two different zip files - one which contains a video segment you can loop on your video iPod, or a static photo of a lighter you can store on your photo iPod or iPod nano and view as a picture.
That being said, I'm sure the iScorch video and photo can be downloaded and installed into one's iPhone through iTunes - that might be a better option because it doesn't require web access to run when you're at the show...

Has been around for a lot longer looks like this guy ripped it off.
It confused me when I saw it in a Zune ad, and it confuses me here: I can understand having a cellphone with you, but why would you bring videogames or music players to a concert?

I was at a Pete Yorn/Guster show last week and the same thing happened - the lead singer of Guster said something to the effect of: "Y'know, with the iPhone coming out and everyone having these new cell phones, the lighter thing doesn't work anymore - let's have everyone raise their cell phones and iPhones right now during this song, and we know that someday soon we won't even just be holding up our cell phones: we'll all be holding up pictures of lighters on our cell phones' screens. That's what things are moving towards, anyway..."
