Handbrake 0.9 released with speed, quality enhancements and more
Handbrake, the reigning king of effortless DVD conversion software, has received a major update to v0.9.0. New in this version is a "re-envisioned" interface for the Mac OS X version (as well as a completely rebuilt UI for Windows), and picture quality has been improved quite a bit through new effects, filters and deinterlacing techniques. Overall speed has also been boosted, and you no longer have to customize your encoding settings for the iPhone, thanks to new presets that simplify the process.Altogether, nearly 300 changes were made for this new version, so head on over and give it a spin.
Thanks Jim

Bob S.: Late response I'm afraid. My point was that mirrors are designed to spread the bandwidth needed - around 6 were used for this release, and were allocated randomly by a script. Posting the address of only one mirror would have flooded it with a disproportionate amount of traffic, and would have slowed everyone's downloads to a crawl, or worse.
Not to mention the nasty letter they'd get from the hosting provider the next day. :-)
Hawkman, I admit to a little confusion about why people shouldn't download from mirrors, which is the whole point of mirrors. (Unless they're private mirrors, of course, but that doesn't seem to be the case.) Are these people "donating their bandwidth" on the condition that no one take advantage of it by downloading?
FWIW, googling for handbrake download mirror makes it rhetorical, if crunch time isn't over already anyway. I just don't quite get the logic.
I like the new look, and all the shiny new options to play with, too. Has anyone experimented with the new deinterlacing and noise reduction options to see which settings work best?

You gotta update presets manually. Presets->Update Built-in Presets.
I don't see the preset for the iPhone. Did anyone else get the new presets?
August 20 2007 at 11:21 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyDoes anyone else have this problem? When I go into the advanced x264 options, all the parameters are labeled "Item 1" "Item 2" "Item 3" etc, which renders them useless.

... it's a gear shift, why would they steal it?
Thanks for the Safari trick, it solved my problem!
