Perhaps its just a case of wishful thinking, but according to a survey highlighted in a recent article at the UK edition of Macworld, Apple Computer's sales of laptops have increased dramatically over the last few months due, in large part, to the public's demand and awareness of Apple products -- chiefly the iPhone. These trends are expected to continue and, according to the article, have an impact not only on Apple's bottom line, but on the PC industry as a whole. The survey highlighted in the article was conducted by research firm ChangeWave and supports an earlier survey by the same company from a few months ago. It relates the following statistics:
Of the 3665 people surveyed, 28 percent say that if they intend to purchase a laptop in the next 90 days it will be a Mac. Also, an additional 23 percent say they'll purchase a desktop Mac. Apple scores high marks for customer satisfaction as well, according to the survey.
Of the people who purchased a Mac in the last 90 days, 86 percent report being "very satisfied with their purchase. The highest for any computer company. A fact that, according to ChangeWave, reflects a definite shift in the entire PC industry towards Apple and away from traditional market leaders like Dell.
What these statistics actually mean for Apple, and the PC industry as a whole, remains to be seen. Stats are great and if true, bode well for our favorite computer company. Still, in the interest of knowledge, let's conduct a little informal research ourselves, shall we? Two questions: Do you intend to purchase a laptop in the next 90 days and if so, will it be a Macintosh? If you've purchased a Macintosh in the last 90 days, how satisfied with it are you?

Well, I bought a refurbished Macbook Pro about a month ago (my first Mac) and I'm very happy with it. :-)
I doubt you'll have many readers who dislike Macs though...

I will be buying a new laptop and of course it will be a mac. But more importantly, my employer is beginning to consider macs when in the past they wouldn't. Now, most new laptops are macs, no questions asked. Reason: they can run Windows/Mac/Unix.

I can't wait til Winter when my toasty MbPro will keep me nice and warm...right now it's a little annoying but manageable.
Been "using" since 1984 and other than office gigs where I was forced to drink brand M Koolaid, have never switched for my personal use.

My Gateway laptop died a couple of months ago and when I was shopping around for a replacement, the thought of having to use Vista was enough to persuade me to get a MacBook instead. The few minutes I spent some time at the Apple Store playing with the MacBook was enough to convince me. I love that I took the MacBook out of its box and it was ready to use! I'm a convert, I'll never go back!

I've had my new white macbook for about a week now. While it's early, I can't get enough of it. It's my first Apple product since my parents upgraded from the monochrome Apple II I learned to type (and read, thanks to Zork) on. I keep it with me at all times and keep finding new things to love about it. It makes me happy just looking at it.

4 of my friends ALL PC users have or will have purchased at least one Mac in the last month. A Mac Book two 20 inch iMacs a Mac Book Pro and a 17" iMac. I am a long time user and am used to being "the mac guy" now people at least consider it. BTW I did one of the setups for one of the guys who needed a windowz pacifier. the Windows install utility on VmWare's Fusion is the coolest thing EVER.

I own several Apple Products:
1. iMac 24" White - purchased in December 2006
2. MacBook Pro 17" - Purchased early this year
3. MacBook 13" Black
4. iPod
5. MacMini (I like this over the Apple TV)
Love them all, I have never had any problems with any of them and will continue to support Apple products as they are released.
I have not purchased an iPhone yet however, and probably won't unless they are unlocked - I do not wish to use AT&T. But other than that one issue - Apple Products are a great part of my personal and professional life.

I've had my new Macbook for about a month now and I adore it. It's my second Mac, my first was a 17" iMac. It runs very smooth and it's really slick. I've got it set up at home with a 20" Widescreen Glossy Acer monitor and a wireless Logitech keyboard+mouse combo. It's a great machine.

I beg to differ. It 100% is the iPod and not the iPhone. Only 1/2 a percent of the worlds population has the ability to use an iPhone (basically... Americans). The fact that I have been using iPods for two and a half years now made be look into the purchase of other Apple products. There were other reasons too but this one had a larger influence to me purchasing one. And this past Friday (My B-day) I dove in and bought a new MacBook. Can't say I love it (Just Like Windows XP/Vista, Mac OS X has its annoyances) but hopefully I will soon.

The wife and I will be buying a 24" iMac when Leopard is released, and I hope to convince her to let me get a refurbished BlackBook sometime next year. In the meantime, 4 of my friends who aren't technically inclined in the least (and who use Windows at work) have bought Macbooks in the last year. I haven't heard a bad thing about the purchase from any of them, and none of them have called or asked me for tech support, too!

I bought a MacBook Pro on June 29th. Absolutely no regrets thus far. This thing feels like it's worth the $1800 I paid...some PC laptops just feel like a $500 notebook with $1000 in upgrades. My second Mac ever (first was a Mac LC in the early 90s!).

I paid for a new Macbook Pro 15" 2.4GHz on the 15th of June.
I'm still waiting for it to arrive. Can't help but think that apple australia place orders through the apple store in front of orders from people who prefer to shop face to face. It's a bloody disgrace. The apple store quotes a shipping time of betweeen 7-10 working days. Currently my order stands at 35 working days.
Needless to say, i'm not happy.

Converted my wife to a Macbook, I just purchased the latest MBP last month, and converted my Dad to a Macbook couple of weeks ago.
That is three fewer full-time PC users. Although we all still have Windows installed via Fusion or Parallels mainly so we can run MS Office and gaming.

I'm ready to replace my aging HP Desktop PC with a new iMac 2.8Gz. I've been a PC user for 29 years. Why the upcoming switch? The iPhone. Got it a month ago and it convinced me to check out the Apple lineup. When the new iMacs were recently announced, I knew I had found my next PC.
