Guess they did not "fix" the lack of all he plug ins that I use. I guess that would be a MAJOR fix. Also a major ommission. I hate this new imovie. You wold never take a major product, and dumb it down to almost nothing and call it a new version. Imagine if they released a new version of word, but they made it so simple, you could just type words. Apple needs to go back and make this work, or call it somthing else. IMovie is now a waste IMO.

I don't get why people think it sucks... I was playing round with it last night and it blows the previous version away!

If you used: plug ins, transitions, titles, and effects you would more than understand why the new version "sucks."

Maybe apple decided that not enough people used those things and that the majority of people didn't make any use of iMovie and that a simplified version would be more suitable and encourage more people to make videos.

Are you kidding me, Steve? iMovie '08 is a big digital turd and has only a fraction of the functionality of the previous version. Apples does make mistakes you know - G4 Cube anyone? This is one of them too. What a craptastic effort - thanks for nothing Apple!

Sigh. I guess it won't fix iMovie not being able to import ANY of my video files (my mobile saves them as 3GP). Not that they're high-quality input material, but it was cool to play around with it. Thumbs down, all two of them!

"the lack of plug-ins is rather stupid to comment on"
People have a LOT of money invested in plug-ins, Steve. It isn't 'stupid' at all to 'comment' on the fact that the new and supposedly improved version of iMovie DOESN'T SUPPORT THOSE PLUGINS. It *IS* stupid to tell people they're stupid to talk about a fairly serious change from one version of an application to the next. It's pretty damned insulting, in fact. Who the hell are you, anyway?
"Maybe apple decided that not enough people used those things"
So what? Does that means the complaints of the people left out in the cold are any less legitimate?

well i personally prefer i
movie 08.
for those who like hd, it is still o your computer.
those suggesting that the lack of plug in support, maybe it is up to the producers of plug ins, to update them.
It is very microsoft to not make changes to be backwards compatible. i like moving forward and sometimes radical change is good.

Maybe I have not found it yet but I can't seem to slow down or speed up video at all in imovie 8. This is a massive loss to me. This has been a feature for a really long time in the "classic" imovie version.
