Aspyr porting Neverwinter Nights 2

Aspyr, maker of many Mac game ports, has confirmed they're working on a port of Neverwinter Nights 2 for the Mac. The game features straight-up D&D action in the Forgotten Realms setting, and while not quite as critically acclaimed as Neverwinter Nights (that one was made by Bioware, after all), it did grab a pretty respectable rating of 82 over on Metacritic.

There is one problem-- the toolset that players can use to create their own content which came with the PC version won't actually be ported to Mac (more evidence that we're getting leftovers). Those of us who buy NWN2 on the Mac will still be able to play that created content, and join up to all the persistent world servers players have put together (and some of that stuff is pretty cool). No release date yet, but we'll keep you posted.

Does anyone know if I can play Neverwinter Nights 2 on my Intel-based Mac using VMware Fusion? Fusion doesn't appear to suppor a high enough version of DirectX.

NWN1 was (and still is) brilliant, and has a massive, thriving community developing content for a game thats (?) what, 5+ years old?

NWN2 is pathetic. Don't waste your time.

Ugh, I hate when companies don't think the creative tools aren't important, or that they don't need them for such a small minority.
Don't they realize that many Mac users use their Macs for artistic purposes?

I never liked any of Aspyr's ports, now that I finally have an Intel Mac I see no reason we need to settle for reduced Mac versions that will probably also be buggy and not patched in a timely manner, or ever. It's sad, but there is now a much better alternative for Mac gamers than buying Aspyr's crap.

and I just bought it after giving up on the idea of a mac version (besides it's nearly 50% cheaper than when it came out.) But hey, it works in Bootcamp, so I'm okay.

yeah, you wouldn't want Mac users actually creating content-- we're such an uncreative lot ;)
