New Apple Wireless Keyboard unboxed (and shipping)

Tonight is the night of new Apple product unboxing! First we had the iPod Touch unboxing and now we have Flickr user MischievousOne's pictures of her brand new Apple Wireless Keyboard (which, it would seem, is finally shipping though the one I ordered hasn't shipped yet) here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.

I asked MischievousOne how she liked the new keyboard and she said, 'I also love the feel of the keys. I've got a black MacBook and I love typing on it. This is very similar to that, if not exactly the same. So far, I like it a lot.' Sounds about right to me. Any of you received your new wireless keyboard yet?

I got mine and love it. I'm a numerical-keypad guy but this is so beautiful and symmetrical that I'm putting up without the keypad. I'm hoping someone releases a matching Bluetooth numerical keypad. In fact, I would prefer a separate keypad to an integrated one.

I really think (and hope) that in the future this keyboard will be able to be paired with the iPhone so that I could take notes in class on a qwerty keyboard without bringing my laptop to class. It'd be similar to the PDAs with the fold out qwerty keyboard. I have no idea whether Steve has this planned or not, or whether anyone else has thought of this, but I really like the idea.

I'm sorry but I'll stick with my current wireless! - That keyboard looks useless for video editing, I'll be hitting 10 modifier keys...

I know you asked about wireless, but I just bought a wired version a few nights ago.

I had previously tested it out in the local Apple store a few different times, and finally decided to give it a go.

I actually like typing on it (which is surprising as I don't like laptop-style keyboards).

I also like the small footprint, especially compared to my Matias Tactile Pro keyboard.

@17: I use the numberpad for everyday number entry (phone numbers and addresses, MM/DD/YYYY, CC number, etc). Since those numbers are typically in clusters, I prefer the ergonomics of a quick lateral shift versus stretching past the QWERTY row. Thoroughly mixed numbers and letters (like passwords) are touch typed as if the numbers were an extra row of letters.

I understand this keyboard as part of a living room HTPC setup. And I have grown to love the macbook style keyboard. But I would greatly prefer the utility of a fullsize bluetooth keyboard (and a decent bluetooth mouse) to allow my macbook to sit on a desktop stand without multiple USB tethers.

I am really surprised so many people actually use their numeric keypads - for what? game playing? number crunching at home? I can undestand the need for it if you do a lot of spreadsheet work etc...but still. I agree with Pete, having the keyboard further to the right by removing the numbers makes a more ergonomic setup for typing. I wouldn't miss the numbers so much, but I think I would miss the Home/Delete/PgUp/PgDn keys etc

I wish there was a wired version without a number pad. I never use the pad and it forces my mouse an uncomfortable distance away from the keyboard. Either that or I wind up leaning to the left to type.

Sometimes I wonder how many people actually do much typing on their computers, since there just doesn't seem to be a comfortable and ergonomic way of having both keyboard (with pad) and mouse arranged on a desk...
