To-Do lists get funky with LifeShaker
Okay, I couldn't resist posting about the new to-do list app LifeShaker from Funky Cloud, if only to comment on their clever marketing. This is the first piece of software I can remember to have a movie-style trailer (not just a screencast).LifeShaker is an interesting take on to-do organizing. It presents a 3x3 grid into which you can dump your various goals, action steps and categories. As the name suggests, you can "shake" your grid to re-arrange your goals (presumably as a kind of self-motivation). It's an unusual approach; how effective it might be I can only imagine.
In my brief testing, I found the interface to be a bit annoying, requiring excessive use of on-screen buttons for data entry t(instead of just letting me double-click on blank list entries). Still it's worth a look if you're interested in a non-traditional to do list.
LifeShaker is $29.00US and requires Mac OS 10.3.9 or higher. A demo is available (points off, however, for the use of an installer).

What we need is a to-do list on the iPhone. I'm really tired of not having one. I miss my Palm TX.

its not just the installer - the hole thing looks more like "my first cocoa steps". Launching full screen ... only my pro apps are alowed to do that :)
you dont launch a little to-do app full screen...
Dont wanna hate but $29.00? Give me a break

There's way too much mac software that's overpriced. I'd say it's worth $10, maybe $15.

A shaker that gives you a random set of tasks to consider? That's what ordinary life is already about.
(I just saved $29.)

GTD it's not!
I'll wait for OmniFocus.

And is it normal installer behavior for the installer to ask for my password? I'm used to Mac OS X asking for my password when an application is trying to install, but it just didn't look right.
There's no reason they can't put this out as a simple drag-and-drop installation. I think I'll pass on even demoing this.

I agree about the overpriced thing and all. But the app looks interesting enough to try. I'm not a super-GTD'er, and somehow the idea of generating a random grid of goals seems kinda cool (but also perverse at the same time.)
If it didn't have an installer, maybe I'd try it out...

Echoing other comments... $29, uses an installer (I don't even like when my major apps use one) and launches full screen? That's enough to put me off.

Just an update...today we released LifeShaker v1.0.1 which no longer uses an installer or resizes to fill the screen on the first launch.
