Still hasn't fixed the fact that contacts don't have a notes field, and the notes on the calendar don't go past one line... Why have Calendar and Contact functions if you aren't going to do them as you have on the past IPODS... Other than that... seems like a solid NON update update...

Hey . . . I live in Irvine too. Villa Siena on Jamboree. I think I'll change the name of my iPod to VillaSiena.

@Graham - Mine is even lamer. My iPod, which is only a 4GB Product Red Nano (2nd Gen) is named "iPod" :P ... My dad's iPod Shuffle is called "Old Man iPod" (And yet its an ipod shuffle...)

My 2nd Gen 8 GB black Nano is named Tycho Magnetic Anomaly since it looks pretty similar to the monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey

i give my harddrives (internal and external) greek names, its kind of fun, i do it reverse (omega, psi, chi, ..., not alpha, beta, gamma), and the harddrives have icons with their symbols. do to the iPods/iPhone.
my dad's computer is named after planets (he got an iPod and an external HD + internal) and my mum wanted roman gods.
its really useful, expecially since most of these "antic" names have a symbol too.
and if your in a network where you share lots of files its more specific if you say "i saved it under jupiter" instead of "i saved it under macintosh HD" (which would exist like 7 times in our network (if all the computers are on)

@Fabio:
That's a great idea, but aren't most of the planets named after Roman gods? Wouldn't your mom and dad then run the risk of using the same names for their Mac hardware?

I've named my 8GB Nano 'Soundwave' - yes I'm a big transformers fan and had a transformers naming thing going on :)
For a naming convention on drives though, all my drives are labeled as characters from Futurama (Fry, Leela, Bender, Zoidberg) with icons provided from iconfactory. The Mac is called 'Planet Express' and my wireless network is known as 'World of Tomorrow!'

"routine bug-fix..." "little..." "57 MB..."
God I'm feeling old. My first Mac's entire hard drive was 20 MB.
Now that's not enough for a routine bug fix, let alone a podcast to tell me about it!

Well mine is named Muse4. I save my pictures from Aperture along with my music. It is from a long distinguished line of iPods stretching back to a second gen 10gb called Muse.
However, I have a question that apple should answer. Imbedded in the info tab for each song in your library is a equalizer preset. You can set the EQ for the song at say R&B. It works fine in iTunes. Wouldn't it be really neat if that preset would carry over to your brand spanking new iPod. I for one would think that would be nice.

Is it just me, or did installing this update take around 2 hours?

I just posted a similar thing on ipodlounge: has anyone spotted that the 3rd gen nano doesn't have room for notes from address of ical entries? Even the 2nd gen nano did it... what gives?
I don't expect it to be a pda, but this aspect is very useful to me. If only it was there.

I meant to say 'notes from address OR ical entries'.
