iPhone AutoSync

iPhone AutoSync is a simple application that does one thing: it makes sure your iPhone's contact and calendar information is up to date by running a sync anytime you change data on your Mac. The application was prompted by the fact that your iPhone's contact and calendar are only updated when you sync it with iTunes. If you change something on your Mac and disconnect your iPhone without syncing it you won't have the latest data with you. iPhone AutoSync monitors the Address Book, iCal, and Safari for changes and initiates a sync whenever it detects a modification, so if you sometimes find yourself with an out-of-date iPhone this might be worth a look.
iPhone AutoSync is $9.95 and a demo is available.

$10 for something to tell me that I have to sync? I like how there is no mention of how when the program wants you to sync, that you have to take your iPhone out of your pocket and plug it into the dock first. They make it sound like it's magic. Make it work over bluetooth, or develop and iSync plugin, then I will be excited.

I'm going to guess I could whip something like this up in a few lines of python that just check modification dates for the relevant files every 5 minutes or so.

ahahahaha $10?? For THAT?! Wow.
Really - if it sync'd over wi-fi or bluetooth then we'd be talking about something worth a little compensation.

I'm fed up of all these stupidly simple Mac apps that cost $10+. If these were on Windows they'd be free.
I'm not saying people shouldn't get paid for their work, but I think they should be reasonable.

so, this for forgetful people? I mean come-on, if you make a change, ummm, sync your device, is that hard to remember? I'm not sure I fully understand the need for this application. It's been widely known and advertised that you need to sync with iTunes to update this information, why do I need yet another application on my computer to do something that can be done by pressing a button thats already designed to do this. Agreed that a blue tooth option would be ideal.

OK, here is its use for me, I plug in my iphone when I get home, poof it syncs.
As the night goes on I add some bookmarks, maybe a cal entry.
Then Itunes downloads periodically throughout the night (podcasts etc)
I get up and unplug my iphone and leave for work.
I do not have all of my stuff from last night.
BUT, for 10.00 they need to at least add a trigger that will sync it every so many hours, so that my podcasts etc will sync.

I'd happily pay $19.95 for an application that automatically synced the iPhone over wifi whenever it was on the same network as my computer. Anyone? Anyone at all?

4.
The Program might be for free if it was on Windows, but it would b bundled with Spyware.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I believe the following statement from the article is totally incorrect: "The application was prompted by the fact that your iPhone's contact and calendar are only updated when you sync it with iTunes." I have iSync enabled as a menu bar option. I plug in my iPhone via USB and initiate a sync from the menu bar iSync icon. This performs a sync of Address Book and iCal changes. I rarely launch iTunes to perform a sync unless I need to move over video/music. Simply put, iTunes isn't the only thing that can sync up Address Book and iCal changes...iSync handles it just fine.

Agreed with all about the price
BUT...
If this always me to sync my calendars and contacts without using iTunes, aka, allow me to sync these at work without losing all of the music that is sync'd to it from my computer at home. Right now, when I try to sync my contacts and calendar with iTunes at work, it erases all of the music from the phone as it's not loaded on that computer.
Any thoughts on this, or other ways around this problem?

Brian, I think the method I described may solve your problem as iTunes, to my knowledge, isn't involved in the sync of Address Book and iCal when iSync is used. Granted, my solution is manual, unlike the automated solution provided by "iPhone AutoSync," but mine is free!
