Madden, Tiger Woods '08 now available on Apple Store

As a couple of you astute readers have noticed (thanks!), Madden NFL '08 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour '08 are now available on the Apple Store, just a little over a month after they were released for PC and consoles last August. A month isn't too bad for Mac ports-- at least the football season is still going on.

I haven't played this year's Madden yet, but I can wholeheartedly vouch for Tiger Woods-- I've been playing the Xbox 360 version of it, and it is some good (if sometimes very difficult, read: frustrating) golf. If you do pick up either game, however, make sure to check your innards first-- neither game will work on Intel's GMA950 graphics processors, found in the MacBook and the Mac mini. If you're boasting a MacBook Pro, a Mac Pro, or a new iMac, you're in the clear, as they use higher end video cards.

So there's what EA's got. id, you're next.

In Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08, how do you access the pro shop?

Cheers John

The PC version of Madden '08 plays fine via Boot Camp on my regular Macbook.

"8. Just curious...if these games don't work on the Mac OSX side of a MacBook...would it be possible to fire up Boot Camp or the latest build of Parallels and play the PC version of Madden on your MacBook that way?"

The problem is your low end video card. Not the OS that you are running it in. Check the specs for the PC version and I think you will find your video card does not match the requirements.

I know this "defeats the purpose" of having games on the Mac, but...if MacBook owners can't play them, what about the PC version?

BE AWARE.. EA has stated repeatedly that the PC offerings (and thus, I imagine, the mac offerings) of its products will NOT MIRROR it's next-gen games. An example is NHL 08 on the Xbox360 is entirely different from NHL 08 on the PC. If you want these games, make sure you research and read the reviews of the PC versions.. not of the Xbox360 or PS3 versions.. they are two different games.

I love Madden for the 360. first game I ever got all 1000 achievement points on, and it's really fun to play with friends online. While I would like to encourage the developers to continue with Mac titles, I kinda doubt that I will buy it for my G5.

Finally getting good games for Mac quickly... Only to be left in the dark due to my Macbook's video card.

There has to be a hack or fix or something to get these games working on my macbook

Not that I have a problem as my mbp is pretty loaded...but 1gb ram and 6gb free hd space and no macbook support... seems hefty and big limits on a small market.. but I will still be picking up Tiger woods for some mobile gaming action...
