Determine your gaming specs with Aspyr Game Agent
Here's a cool freeware utility for Mac gamers (who love Aspyr especially). When you launch The Aspyr Game Agent (TAGA), it compares your machine's specs to the system requirements of their titles, and displays good matches. If you search for a game that won't run well on your machine (according to the system requirements, at least), TAGA suggests appropriate system upgrades. It's convenient and fun, though limited to a single manufacturer's catalog. It's also free (and Universal). If you're a hard core Aspyr fan, check this one out.

@ Daniel D,
Lots of people have Powermacs and Mac Pros. and FYI, HDD,CDROM and Memory are upgradable on all macs.
@ Peter, yeah, but if you choose the generic macbook from the menu it'll correct itself.
This thing tells me that I have 256 Mb of video memory on my Macbook, when everywhere that I've read says that the max memory that the GMA 950 will take in OS X is 64 Mb.
September 26 2007 at 9:55 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWell... it tells me the minimum requirements are a radeon x1600 or geforce 7300 and then it correclty tells me i don't have a video card.. then it tells me i meet all the minimum system requirements

September 26 2007 at 6:21 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replylol what a joke!
You can't even upgrade a mac except for ram, so if I need a new video card what am I supposed to do? Answer: Nothing I can do!
(remember that very few people actually own a power mac
yup, some problems with the AGA recognizing intel processors - mine is a core duo and it shows up as a dual g4 (thus a handful of games say they won't run on my system)
September 25 2007 at 11:21 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI take it back. I copied the app to the desktop and ran it again and it recognized I have Intel but it still said some games might not work because the minimum requirement is a G4!
September 25 2007 at 10:48 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySame as Matt. When you try to customize, it doesn't even list Intel processors: only PowerPC.
September 25 2007 at 10:44 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyit's showing my Intel Core 2 Duo processor as a Dual G4... problematic.
September 25 2007 at 10:37 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI would like to see something similar to the system benchmarking feature Windows Vista has. Basically it tests out your machine and gives it a score based on it lowest scoring component. So if you video card rates a 3.1 but your CPU rates a 2.9 your final score will be 2.9. When buying games you can theoretically just look to see what score is recommended for that game. Sure sometimes the suggested minimum system requirements are a bit higher than they really need to be but this is a nice quick way to help casual users know what their system is capable of.
