For what it's worth, the new aluminum 20" and 24" iMacs are NOT included in this iMac firmware update.

That's a shame. I was hoping they will release fix for the 20" Alu imac displays, so keep waiting ...

Interesting - my MBP with MBP31.0070.B02 doesn't show this update as being required, and a manual download and run confirms that "This computer does not need this update", even though it's supposed to bring the firmware to MBP31.0070.B03.
Any ideas?

It'd be nice to get a detailed list of changes for us geeks. Anyway, my C2D MBP (non-Santa Rosa) seems to still work after the update. ;)

Since installing this new firmware update my mac pro has been purring like a kitten and doesn't sound like a jet engine just about to taxi down the runway!

I downloaded the update and -tried- to initiate the update process. I held the power button down for over 2min and the sleep light didn't flash nor did any screen come up, but my battery was almost completely drained. Is plugged in though.

Just wanna say - my macbook seems to run much faster after the EFI-FW update. Perhaps the keynote update reasons the effect more (exporting KN-Slides2Video)
Best regards from good old germany (so forgive the typos)

Why does it say it won't let me update the firmware on my macbook?
I swore apple already released 1.1
But My Boot rom version isn't the newest...is it only for the newest macbooks? Cause i have a first gen...

OOOOO
The macbook one is only for the 2nd and 3rd revisions...
The page says Late 06, and the macbook first rev was may.
And at macrumors buyer guide it says there has been 3 models...

@Justin
That happened to me, too. Let go of it and press it down again. It might not work the first time (it'll boot normally and the instructions will come up again, so click Shut Down again and retry)

I guess it's now safe to assume that Apple has pretty much given up support for the various EFI issues with the Core Duo Macbook Pro.
Hey Apple, my computer still refuses to go to sleep at times and heats up to ridiculous temperatures when it fails to sleep when told to!
My MBP still fails to wake up from sleep 50% of the time!
My MBP still goes BACK to sleep if I don't give it attention immediately after waking it up!
Can you PLEASE fix this crap along with your EFI updates for the C2D machines? Have you forgotten about the Core Duo?

Word, I have the same thing. Software Update doesn't grab it, and a manual install says "you don't need this update." Maybe it's only for non-Santa Rosa C2D MBPs?

If you have access to another Mac. Download and burn this disk image:
http://supportdownload.apple.com/download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/Mac_OS_X/downloads/061-3791.20070911.mVot5/FirmwareRestorationCD1.4.dmg
DON'T PUT IT IN THE "BROKEN" MAC YET. After you burn it, hold down the power button on the Mac that failed the update until you hear a loud beep. When you hear the beep, THEN shove that disk you burned into the drive and pray that it restores your firmware. If it doesn't work, then make an appointment for the Genius bar and take it to the Apple Store. Try this before making an appointment at an Apple Store though. I can tell you with great confidence that this is what they would do first before replacing your logic board. Hope this helps.
