Store down, iTunes down
So, I'm over at iTunes trying to snag this free Supernatural episode and the entire iTunes store goes down. From what all of you have been sending in, so has the main Apple online store. So: thanks for letting us know and you can stop sending in those tips!
Update: It is back, without an update. Nothing to see here, folks, move along.

Once again, this is not news worthy of reporting.

For what it's worth: I pre-ordered Magic by Springsteen a few weeks ago. It didn't download yesterday. When I tried to complete the download of the pre-order today, iTunes said the album wasn't available through the U.S. store.
Finally I just canceled the pre-order and bought the album as if the pre-order never existed.

if you look at the microsoft office it gives a release date for office 08, and a offer to buy 2004 now, and then get it when it comes out

anyone ever why they have to put the "store is down" sign up? i get that its a marketing thing...i'm hoping that they have a staging server where they can preview all the functionality before it goes live. thats probably a big "a duh, of course they do" but sometimes you just have to wonder....

I dont think we need a TUAW post *every* time the store goes offline.
When you think about it, there are inumerable reasons that Apple could take it offline temporarily - not just for product updates. So let's not get into a tiz every time.

Do we really have to see an entire story reported every time the Apple Store has a hiccup? I'm getting really tired of these. At least let us subscribe to an RSS feed that hides them.
